I have '96 GMC Z-71 with a 6" Pro-Comp lift and I am sick of replacing IFS parts. I want to put an straight axle under it and get rid of all that junk in the front. I probably won't do any of this until next winter but I am reading and trying to learn as much as I can right now. I am planning on a D60 in the front and 14FF in the rear with 4.56 gears and lockers on both ends. My questions are where to find good axles. I have seen 14FF's for $175 and others for $800 or more, the description of each sound the same but why sich a difference in price?? Also are boneyards a good place to look?? What makes the axle good or bad, are there certain things to look for?? I would probably plan on going through the whole thing anyway but I need a good foundation to start with. Also if I understand correctly for the front D60 I would need one that cam from a Ford but does anyone know what years I would be looking for??
Any and all info is appreciated!!
Thanks.

axle prices change every day....just get what you can afford. boneyards are a good place just don't let them rape you!! Axles that you wanna use are REAL GOOD just stay away from the "ball joint" Dana 60's the are weaker....get the "king pin" style. Any Ford F-350 will have the axle you need. Good Luck......
Use the "SEARCH" function to do your DANA 60 & 14 BOLT homework.............;)
