I added a header to my 2F and removed the EGR. I have not removed all of the other smog componets yet, but will.
Anyway, I have a question: The EGR used to hook into a pipe that connected to the intake manifold.. the other end of that pipe connected to the PCV valve. How the heck do I connect the PCV valve after removing that pipe and the EGR? Do I have to make a fitting for that?

What model year? All the EGRs I have seen connect to a port on the carb. The PCV valve has a separate connection to the intake manifold below the carb. You need to be careful removing the rest of the smog gear or you could end up with an engine that works worse. The EGR is the biggest performance culprit and it can be deactivated or removed the easiest without negative consequences.
Things to consider:
1) Air pump/air injection. What are you going to use to tension the belt if you remove the pump? If you don't remove the air rail and plug the holes, it will rust out quickly.
2) Distributor. Either get a non-smog distributor or have your mechanical advance recurved. If you have a vacuum retard, you may want to get a vacuum advance.
3) Carb. Do you need a port for the vacuum advance? What are you going to use to open the power valve when your VSV is gone?
If you don't get a non smog distributor and carb, you may not see any improvement and it may run worse.

well.. I can't remove the air pump, that is the one thing they visually inspect for.
This is a 1984 FJ60. It definitely connected the PCV and the EGR into a common pipe that plugged into the intake.
i have a buddy with an 83 that says it runs to his air cleaner. hrmm.
