Ok as you all know from my many questions Im building a buggy. Anyway It will be using either drive belt or chain. I want to have the engine placed right over the rear axle. So the drive sprocket or pulley will be right below the engine sprocket. BTW this is going to have full suspension. so what Im tryin to find out if there is a such a part that would act as a tensioner for the chain to tension it as the wheel travels? Im thinking maybe dirbikes might have somethin like this I dunno. Any help or ideas would be great

a spring and any type of pulley on an arm will tension your chain.

With the engine right over the axle it is gonna have to move a long ways. What engine and axle are you going with? Maybe a frame mounted pig with 1/2 shafts would be better...

If it's only a 250 I don't think you need very much axle..I was thinking about a bigger axle like from a independent military jeep m-151 ? I think they are called. Vettes and other sports cars have them also...

he's talking about things like the rear engine/suspension in a volkswagon bug
