So I'm thinking about picking up a 'manche and getting rid of my XJ. What I need to know is will the "Rock Ready" control arm/tranny xmember fit on the MJ? Just for kicks, does anybody want to trade me a stock MJ for a '89 XJ with trimming and no lift? :D

The only front end differences I am aware of on the MJ is the addition of a triangulated brace for the back of the lower control arm bracket. It is similar to the RE XJ brace. If those parts are not a problem, then I dont know why it wouldnt fit. I'd advise you go with the RE Extreme Duty kit. That kit combined with Currie control arms makes for a real articulator.

Thanks for the info, thats what I thought. FWIW, I allready have the RR lift so I wont be buying a new kit. Hows this sound, 5.5" lift, 35's (maybe 37's), 44 rear, auto, 4.10's, and flatbed. Should hold me over till I start and finish my planned jeepster project :D

sounds like you should just pick up a 'mando and get a frame to start with.

I wish I could. The problem is at the moment I dont have anywhere to do a rebuild. If I found a C101 in good condition for the right price then I would consider it. It would have to run though. I just hate doing things twice and if I bought a C101 that I could use then I would end up fixing things just to replace them later. My C101 plans are fully boxing the frame, stretching the wb to 105", cage, armor, trimming, 60's, atlas II, auto, EFI 350, 37's, locked f&r, speedglass windsheld, with hard & soft tops. My plan is to keep my XJ (or a MJ) untill I finish the jeepster.

the front end on a mj is pretty much identical to the xj. There is extra bracing for the lower control arms, but the control arms themselves are the same. Chances are the cross member will fit, if it has the same tranny. I wouldnt know about mj's with motors other than the 4.0. If the cherokee and the comanche you have both have the same tranny, the cross member should be identical. Even if its not, its pretty close and if you really wanted to you could make it work.

hey eddie, I know.

they are the same except for the LCA brace which is a factory weld on and easily chopped off. otherwise, yes...it will work perfect. the t-case crossmembers are the same as well.

oh, I talked with my father about a trade...no go. Let me know if you still are interested in buying straight out...I can have it in boulder next monday or tuesday to look at if you want.
