Allright here is the plan... full width D60 HP RR front and Full Floater 60 or 70 rear. I was hoping to switch from a 15" to a 16.5" wheel... now i realize that 16.5" rims have a shitty safety bead, but I see alot of guys running the hummer wheels. I would want to run 39.5's or 42's... anybody have any ideas what kind of trac width differences i'd see over my stock D44 Ford 9' setup? right now I have a set of 38.5"x 14.50x 15 TSL/SX's mounted on a 10" wheel.

Nobody has any ideas about how wide it may be? how difficult it will be to clearance the D60 diff on my oilpan? Any issues with steering or rubbing? I don't want to have the tires hangin out from uner the truck so far they are almost completely exposed. Hence the hummer wheel idea...anybody have any input? How well do the Hummer wheels perform?

An EB front 44 with GM 8 lug outers is 61.5" wide. A stock 78 HP 60 is right around 68". So there you gained around 7" of width. Now throw in the fact that most wheels will be around 4" of back spaceing. A hummer wheel is around 7" backspaceing. I would be guessing that you will be around 1-2 inches wider then you are now. Don't forget that you may have to run some spacers on the front, if you want to clear the steering arms. For refrence you can check out 3/4 ton YJ's page, he has hummer wheels on his Jeep. http://www.geocities.com/yj3qtr_ton/34tonYJ

my tires didn't come in yet(interco lost my tire shop's order) but when they do I'll post pics of my bronco with 38.5x14.50 sx's on hummer 8 bolt rims on my 79 ford dana 60's in the bronco. My 79 vintage 60 tucks right into the stock indentation in the side of the oil pan, and I'm running 1" wheel spacers on the front so the wheels clear the tie rod end, when I go Hi steer it will eliminate the spacers on the front, and take 2" out of the front track then. The one thing I had to change to accomodate the front 60 was swapping from a bronco exhaust manifold (exits down) to a 70 mustang manifold (exits out the back) on the driver side to keep the exhaust clear of the driveshaft.

My setup is also a 79 Ford Dana 60 front with a 14 bolt rear on a 99 Tacoma and I'm hoping to run the Hummer rims (possibly with no spacers and highsteer) and I'd appreciate your input.

Thanks,
David

There internally splined so no worries about accessing hub bolts. Find a piece of pipe with the same ID as the hub OD, cut to length and slip over hub assy, weld on. Rockrings for locking hubs. I believe Pat Gremillion ran this type of setup for quite a while, I think I even saw someone selling this mod at one point, but cant remember where.

edit: Just be sure to check that it will fit through the center hole on the wheel before ya go arcin and sparkin.

What calipers are you using in the rear? They look upside down for the GM style so what am I missing or do you just take them off to bleed them.

I have 5.38's in my 60's, it's a bit low on the street with no OD, it spins about 3000 at 60...

they're a 76 caddilac eldorado (big GM caliper, like 1/2 ton fronts), the bleeder is the highest point with them installed like that, the e brake cables pull under the axle tubes on that vintage...
