I can't get my POS scout to idle when I put it in gear without the two foot driving technique, but then I stall it up and usually do a little burnout. Is there a vacuum line from the Tranny to the engine that I may have over looked? I am also interested in some diagrams of the TF 727 I can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks for the help, Any suggestion is a good one!

It's not a turbo 350/400, no vacuum line! What sort of diagrams are you looking for there must be 50-60 in the shop manual:cool:

As old Scout said.. no vac. line. There's a mechanical kick down rod from the throttle arm down to the line pressure arm on the 727.
Sounds like you need to turn up the idle. :flipoff2:

Yeah. I figured it was the carb. I need to adjust the mixture and the idle speed. Thanks for the replies. I wanted to be sure I always tend to second guess my first thoughts.

Hmm, might check your brake booster. mine used to do that. I thought it was dying because I put it in gear. in fact, it was dying because i put my foot on the brake before i put it in gear, and the extra load from going into gear would kill it.
With the engine running and tranny in park, put your foot on the brake. Engine rpm should flutter a little then stabilize. If it flutters and keeps fluttering, or if the rpms go way down and it gets rough, money down you have lost vacuum in your brake booster. you put your foot on the brake and suddenly have a massive vacuum leak, bad idle. put the truck in gear, and the vacuum leak is bad enough that you can't keep it running. have to run the rpms up to keep it running, and then you chirp the gears and beat up the bands inside the tranny.
Might be carb, but if it idles fine till you put it in gear, when you put your foot on the brake, i bet it is the booster.
