My '99 Silverado 2500 has begun making an odd noise while turning left. Sounds kind of like rubber rubbing on something. It is defenitely comming from the drivers rear side of the axle and as far as I can tell nothing is rubbing. I replaced the brakes last week and the noise has gotten worse. It is still only while turning left though. If I lightly hold the brake pedal down while turning the noise stops. Occasionaly since the brake job the noise has been higher pitch at times and sounds more like a wheel bearing going bad. When I am pulling my trailer with my Heep on it, it is much much worse and just requires light leftward steering input to make the noise (normally has to be a full sweeping left turn) I am at a loss for what it is. I guess the most likely culprit is the rear discs, but I did everything possible to make that piss poor design work smoothly (greased the caliper slides and the brake pad sliders and ha dthe rotors turned). I am really hoping it isn't a wheel bearing, the truck only has 77k miles on it. I guess I am wondering if anyone has experienced this too and what the problem was. Is there an easy way to check for a bad bearing without tearing everything apart? The rear is a semi float 14blt. And my last question is, if it is the wheel bearing are these shafts c-clip retained, or are they pressed bearing type?

Thanks,
Jason

are the park brake shoe retained correctly little metal clip breaks when rotor is removed, also are park brake shoes in good condition
if its a 9.5 14 bolt semi float then yes it is c-clip
