: Scout 44 hubs

Hey, I acquired a 44 with Warn locking hubs, these have on the Lock& Auto...any info on these? What's the auto thing?:smokin:

They are a pain in the balls!!!!!( they only lock in going forward, or atleast that is my experience (ditched the m in a few weeks)

In LOCK they're locked manual hubs.. normal.

In AUTO they lock up any time you spin the stub-shaft, assuming they're working correctly.

If you wheel, don't wheel in AUTO - they have been known to just explode if they don't engage just right and you're heavy on the right foot.

They should work both forwards and backwards.

Great if you want to lock it in 4-hi, drive out of an icy parking lot/parking spot, then shift back into 2-hi.

not really worth much otherwise.

Best bet is to find someone that likes them and trade for a set of manuals. Some of the internal AUTO parts are hard to come by these days.
