: Dana 18 gears

I did a search, and I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Are the Tera 3.15:1 gears the lowest that can be put into a Dana 18? I found some info about lower gears for Dana 20s. Will Dana 20 gears fit inside a Dana 18 case? Does anybody make lower Dana 18 gears?

I don't have the wheelbase for dual cases. I need the Dana 18 for the offset outputs, so don't tell me to spend $500 more and get an Atlas. :D

Thanks.

yeah they were making 4.89 gearsets for those but you had to modify the case (weld in a piece) and they were expensive. damm I can't remember who had em.

I did search for O'Brien and I got his number, it's just a little too late to call so I was seeing if I could chase down any other options in the mean time. Thanks.

I will call Jack tomorrow. Do you know what ratio his gears are and what is required to fit them in the D18 case?

I guess you already talked to Jack by now but:
ratios are 3.1, 3.6, 4.1 & 4.86
The 2 lower ratios require fairly major case modifications.

I went w/ the 3.6:1 because it's the lowest that will work with the o/d he should have available very soon, if not now. I need to call him & see, since i'll be going to 5.13's soon.

Thanks for the info. I didn't get a chance to call yet because I had to work late. I will as soon as I get an opportunity though. Mmmmmm 4.86 sounds nice!
