I checked the cluster fuse, and all the other fuses that are installed. They are all good.
Basically, I gots headlights, turns etc but none of the guages work. Odo/Trip is dark, and none of the needles lift.
Where do I start looking? What else should I look for?
Thanks!!!

Check the connection pin behind the cluster. My gauges go dead while I'm driving and a smack on top of the dash brings everything back to working. There is a thread about the dash cluster /connection pin somewhere in the archives...search :flipoff2:

yup...same problems with the 98/99's - I slammed my palm on top of the dash the first time it did it on my old 98 nad it never happened again - I guess I intemedated it
but its a TSB I beleive and the connection behind the cluster loosens over time - pull it and put a zip tie around the connector...

Ok, so teh cluster just kinda "sits there" on the 2 plugs.
I pulled the cluster and re-set it several times. Now I have the Odo, and the oil kinda bumps a little but really, it's not all the great in that I'm still not showing a temp, RPM, fuel and I don't know if the Oil Pressure is working or not because it raises to the bottom line, but that's it.

Ok, so BTT.
I cleaned the plugs and I now have a working odo, but still no temp, fuel or Oil Pressure....
Any ideas?

take the plug apart again and gently, bend and twistthe male pins SLIGHTLY so they make abit better contact into the female socket, and use some di electric grease on the connector.

Bad connection from the oxidation at the guages. If you take the whole cluster console out you can see 4 screws for each gauge. The screws make the connection to the PCB. Take each screw out and clean it with a pink eraser and the area were the screw contacts the pcb. You can use some of the electronic spray cleaners, but be careful, some will mess up the plastic.
My fuel gauge was not reading correctly- read 1/2 a tank all the time -until I cleaned up the connections.

clean the connection and use some dielectric grease on it. should solve the problem.
