I searched and read a bunch on propane I really want to do the conversion on my 1.3 carbed zuk. I do have a few questions for those who did it, how much did it cost you? was it worth it to gather the parts up yourself or do you think the Got Propane? (http://www.gotpropane.com/p4.html#Suzuki) setup would be better. Also I would like to swap in a 1.3 DOHC swift motor later on and I was wondering what I would do for the ignition since its electronicly controlled?

Of and to the people who don't know and still think propane conversions bring a big power loss :flipoff2: come out of your cave

Also I thought it would be cool to put a turbo on either motor? would I have to make one of thouse equelizer box or whatever like on reg carbs or could I just run boost right through the carb like efi? Also with a turbo would I need a bigger then 100 or 125 mixer that everybody runs on samis?

Thanks but like I said I read almost every propane thread in the Suzuki section and a little in gen4x4. I obviously saw that because I posted in it :)

how about propaneguy.com. his kit is like half the price, anybody ever order from him? it doesnt have mounts or the main hose but saving $400 you could get the hose and mount easy. I want to go propane so I've been researching a lot but I need to figure out the tank mounting first

I looked on the site and didn't see a samurai specific kit is it on there and i missed it? Also the smallest mixer that I saw was like 225 and samurais need like 100-125

I researched allo different methods of doing it before I bought from gotpropane .com
But after seeing what I would have to pay for junkyard parts or piecing my own kit together The money was only a couple of hundred dollars different. I went with the kit and didn't have the hassle of finding parts or it not workingm or any problems from trying to rig it. The only thing you have to buy is the tank, and he can sell you that too it you need it. The kit runs great, no problems, never looked back.

Any body know if this would work with a 1.3 DOHC swift motor? Or what I would have to do to make it work? Could the samurai Disc work on the swift motor?

EDIT: Any way to have a tank gauge(sp?) (gay-j) :flipoff2:

yea, he has the smaller stuff, I called. his website is a little hard to follow but he picked up the phone right away so theres points in my book. apparently the 100 and 125 are actually the same size but the 100 is better because it comes out at a 90 and you can just put a K&N type clamp on filter on it.

The propane system as a whole is simple to comprehend, what if any ADJUSTMENTS did you have to make to the impco carb or regulator??
Did you machine your own impco to suzuki manifold adapter?

Is the system easy to tube? JETS, screws, how are they adjusted??

Performance?

propane cost per lb or gallon?

Anything special?

There was one screw on the carb for air fuel mixture I think the forklift manuals call it the power adjustment and yes I made my own adapter 1/2"aluminum got all the hoses and misc at a local forktruck dealer . Cost me $16 to fill a fork lift tank and it last me 2 days of wheeling 14-16 hrs total . The reg . and lockoff have no adjustments the lockoff has a built in filter I ran 3/8" copper tubing between the two and regular heater hose to the vaporizer/regulator water lines. Just search the web there are plenty of sites that tell you how to do this. Peformance wise it has more than enough for wheeling and I can run 60mph on the highway if I wanted but It doesn't get driven on the road anymore . I love it and will probably never wheel on gasoline again .

I'm very glad I read this post. I have been having many carb problems and I was looking into getting the 16 valve fuel injected engine swapped into my samurai. That was looking very expensive :( . So, if I understand this correctly, all you have to do is buy the $825 kit from gotpropane.com and a tank and you are set? Is it legal to drive on the street? From what I understand it is easy to install is that correct? I would like to keep this post going so I can get some more info about this. Where else can I find info about the propane setup for samurais? Thanks

I use all new parts and upgrade the internal parts to silicone for 20 to 30 years of trouble free service. It comes with a k&n air filter, fuel filter, all hoses, fittings, tank brackets, adapters. All dot approved parts. Prolly not street legal in California but most everywhere else it should be fine. Check local laws first. The kit is designed specifically for the sammy.

Feel free to call with questions.

Darn that sucks it is not street legal in Cali. Another thing, isn't it kinda dangerous having a giant propane tank in the back of your rig? I was asking some people today and the first thing that came up was the safety factor? Anybody have any problems with that? Thanks alot.

Does any body know who to call to see if it would be legal in cal? If its not I say we put up a post in general to get it legalized. As far as I can see there are no down sides (in there eyes even) exelent emissions, help slightly with gas prices maybe and maybe it will catch on to other people who want alternative fuel vehicles.

I would rather be sitting next to a propane tank in a roll-over than a gas tank.
When my rig was still gas powered, gas would spill out the carb when I was on my side.Every part of my rig has touched the ground a few times and the propane tank doesn't have a scratch. Just place the tank out of harms way.

P.S. that tank doesn't look giant does it :D
