This may seem like a dumb question but I am sure someone here knows what you need to do this, wanna share? Looking for part numbers part list or anything else that might make this easier. Thanks

Not a dumb question. I have been researching this to put a 203/205 double behind my 700r4.

Since the NP302 only came behind a TH350 trans, and the fact that the 700r4 ouptshaft is ~1.5" longer than the TH350 ouptushaft you have to make some mods. Here are some options:

1). You could replace the 700r4 ouptshaft with a shortshaft from AA part# 50-6900. This will allow the use of a factory TH350 to NP203 adapter which is easily available. NOTE: The factory TH350 outputshaft WILL NOT WORK in the 700r4, and cutting the 1.5" off the factory shaft will not leave enought spline to be reliable.

2). You could make up the difference with an adapter. There are about 3 routes to take on this:
a). Use a factory TH350 to NP203 adapter and make a large plate to go between the factory adapter and NP203. This would require a lot of material but could easily be made, but creates 2 apaters which could stress concerns.
b). Use a factory TH350 to NP203 adatper and make or purchase an adapter for between the 700r4 and factory adapter. This would be smaller than option (a) and I have seen them produced, but have same concern with 2 adapters causing stress.
c). Find and use a factory 700r4 to NP208 adapter. Using this option will require drilling and tapping the NP203 case for the NP208 adapter and possibly some minor clearancing for the NP203 input bearing retainer. This adapter is the correct length and will be the only adapter needed to mate the 700r4 and NP203. (I will be using this option)

Hope this Helps

Just to make myself understand what you are saying I can buy the shorter shaft from AA and then use a TH350 adaptor to the 203? Does the TH350 and the 700R4 out put have the same bolt pattern? Does AA make the 203 to TH350 adaptor or should I look else where? All of this will get bolted to a toyota l/c split case and run in my soon to be 350tbi powered 60 series. Thanks

-Yes the TH350 and 700r4 share the same bolt pattern.

-No, all you need to do is find a NP203 that came behind a TH350 originally and get it with the factory adapter. Easy to do they are all over the place.

If you are going to run a LC case behind it then you will need to adapt that to the 203 range box also. Here is a write-up on it if you haven't seen it. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/Lintz/index.html
Not certian that AA has the NP203 to split case, when I check into it a year or two ago they only had adapters for NP203 to 3sp and 4spd cases.

Maybe someone else can verify that there is a NP203 to split case adapter now.

I wanna say thanks for the info and let you know that the 203 to a split l/c case is no problem. There are several individuals through out the us that are now selling the adaptor to go toyota tranny-203-split case I am just trying to by pass the toyota tranny. thanks again
