Got a set of Micro Tough rachets and I was surprised to flip them over to see Taiwan engraved in the back. For some reason I was under the impression that Mac tools were made in the US? :smokin:

Mac & Matco Tools do not manufactur tools they resell them. Macs tool boxs are "Assembled in the USA with worldwide parts", as written right on the back.

Yup Mac tools are ownded by STAN-REE. You should have just gone to home cheapo and gotten the husky micro ratchets because they are IDENTICAL. Stanree makes husky tools. I hate buying MAC because thier parent, stanley lied to thier customers. After stanley bought out the husky name from new britain tool company, thier design changed. Then, about 2 years before Husky was labled made in taiwan, Stanley started lieing to thier customers buy using taiwanese forged wrenches and sockets, and finished them here in the US, and labling in the made in USA.

My buddy works for Stanley Hydrulic Tools here in PDX Metro, and the stories he tells.
I have had a set of those ratchets for 4 years, and they've held up great. But I don't use them daily, in fact I don't use them at work anymore they are home tools now (theives :mad3: )

Yup. nobody ius argueing the quality of them, its pretty goo for a taiwanese tool. The problem is that Stanley makes them. Stanley really screwed themselves with the Husky tools incident. I like stanley stuff, its decent quality, but I hate the company and everything thier greedy CEO standsfor, so I wont touch them with a 10 foot pole now.
And, Mac and MAtco do not Resell tools, they do in fact manufacture them. MUch like Ingersoll rand. The plants they are made in are infact owned by the companies, maybe with the expection of a few items. Take SATA handtools(not to be confused with Sata paint guns). They are the chinese version of Matco. The quality is supposedly very very good, because it is a DANAHER company, And so the quality controll and the manufacturing process is going to be similar as well.

Snap On is made in the good old USA, except for a couple of pieces that are puchased in (mostly Blue Point branded stuff).
Their tool plants are in Wisconsin...
Their tool boxes are also made in the USA, and just recently they began importing drawer slides from Mexico becasue the plant that supplied the ones we used cannot meet our demands for qualty and delivery.
There is a difference...

Yeah, snap on boxes are great quality, but he also said he didnt want to spend thousands! They are VERY VERY expensive. MAybe look into a brand called Lista. They build mainly stationary tool boxes, and are of very very high quality. They are fairly expensive, but not nearly as expensive as snap ons are. check around on ebay.
