will an AW4 auto tranny bolt up to my 258 in my 76 CJ5?

its your 1st post so i'll be nice.use the search engines on the board.in short ,yes it will bolt to your engine.but your engine will not run the electronic trans.so no it won't work.get a 999 out of a 80 to 86 cj.even later year yjs used this trany but some were electronic.a dana 300 will bolt to it with no adapter.good luck

it will bolt up, but the electronics won't work. I have a manual shifting solution that several people here have done with that combo and been very pleased (link in sig).

Length is going to be an issue on a CJ-5 unless you're stretching the wheelbase...there's a reason they didn't come with autos stock...

Jeepskate has a point. but if you do go with it Brett's shifter is kick ass.
