As many of you interested in Wristed Arms already know, after many threads on the subject, a "small" group of us decided to meet at my place yesterday to build the worlds beefiest wristed radius arms. The players were, yours truly, Welndmn (Mark Harris), Brian Whitford (1uglyranger), Nick (Smurfsdad), Dimitri (Flatty), Kevin (brocbronc), Ben (injectedEB) all the way from fawkin Colorado, Sean (SMC) from Reno, James (Seans welder buddy) and last but certainly not least, Todd (Monkeyboy)! Wow, what a turn out:eek: Many of us had met before but, for some, this was our first introduction. Some supplied materials, all most supplied tools and equipment, some supplied experience and knowledge, and everyone supplied enthusiasm and the desire for a more flexy EB, BII or Ranger!

This is why I love this BB :bounce: We all made some great friends this weekend.

We began the day around 10:00 am and the last of the die-hards didn't head home (Reno) until about 7:30. I lost count of the exact number of arms we completed (too much   for Rubicrawler) but it was around 5 complete and 2 about 80%. Not a bad days work, if you ask me:)

If you want to buid your own arms, do a search and then check out Mark's tech article at www.wt4wheeling.com. It very helpfull and complete.

Enough BS- Here's some pics of the event!

This is such a popular topic here, what do you guys think about an "Official Wristed Arm thread" (Sticky)that only moderators can add to?

Would contain answers to all the frequently asked questions, links, and of course lot's of photo's. I'd be willing to help get it established.

That's a good idea  I did a search and came up with a lot of good info but, hey, if it was all in one place it would be a lot easier. Wristed arms are a very hot topic right now. I'll supply any photos I have:)

so are you going to run the wristed arm on one side and a "stock" arm on the other? Or are they both wristed. Great informative shiot here though. thanks

Hey, how come nobody told me that there was a break. :D
Also instead of a sticky someone should write up something for the tech section

I drilled, cut and welded mine during lunch today. What a difference a BIG drill press makes in speed.

Stony- With a wristed arm, you only need one to be wristed. You leave the stock arm on the drivers side to help maintain pinion angle and you mount the wristed arm on the passenger side. If you wristed both sides, there would be nothing to keep the axle from rotating.

So are you planning to keep the rad. arms the stock length or extend them along with the wrist job. I'm thinking more in terms of my F150 setup because my shitty Superlift uses these monster drop brackets to keep the mounts at a stock height. I need to make some new ones and I'm thinkin:

Get the Bent and Twisted extended arms then work the aforementiond wristing into the picture for some supermega extended wristed arms. Whose rig are the ones you guys made in your post going on?:usa:

Our arms are stock length. They'll provide great flex but the extended arms do have one advantage- they help keep your caster in check.

The rigs vary-

Mine, Smurfsdad & brocbronc's are going on a stock width EB's
Flatty's going with FS axles
SMC and his buddy both have full width axles on BII's.
1uglyranger's is going on a Ranger w/EB axles

I'll post some finished flex pics as soon as they are available.

hehe these are sweet, these help take some bind out of the bushing, i don;t have them, but they seem to work
The f-150 arms are the same size as the EB arms as well, the only differance is the coils mount hole is 1/4 over

this is the only thing that i can find thats close to a build thread for wristed rad arm and i cant see the pictures... darn. also you have a build thread for this or something that shows us how to do this? i dont know if your pics show it or not so i got to ask anyways... and thanks for all your hard work in doing this, makes things easier for the rest of us.

Darn can't see the pics as love the wristed arms.
Thoughts on the history of W arms forcing all the twisting load to be carried by the driver side axle tube? Have heard stories of axle tubes being twisted out of the third member?

The Pics were probably on the old Dysfunctional server...Try searching through the builds on the current Dys Forum and you may find Mark's (Rubicrawler) bronco on there. Although, he sold the Bronco many years ago so it may not be there...

I have some pics around somewhere of both a tube being spun on one rig, and that driver arm being twisted up on another rig. Have to see if i can find them.

OMG.. Level 3 thread revival. The rumors are true. With a wristed radius arm, the differential is prone to spinning on the tubes. Honestly, a bead of weld along the housing would solve that issue, no biggie. Its been a while now, but I can tell you that the wristed arm worked very well for what it was intended. Stupid amounts of flex. Other than that, it screws with your suspension geometry something fierce. If you slam on the brakes, your rig dives violently to the wristed side, and your prone to suspension hop as well.
At the time, it was a great idea. However now with prefabricated universal 3-link brackets being provided by a variety of vendors for not much coin, there are FAR better options out there.
