I am looking on getting a custom trailer that I can tow my new project rig in and that i can also use for Landscaping.. My question is this: I am going to be running 38.5x14.5 SX's with 3.5 backspacing on my jeep with stock width axles I am running a waggy front and 60 rear which are stock width. The trailer I can get is only 6 feet 9 inches in deck width will I be able to fit my jeep on this trailer?? I would just measure it but I dont have the axles or tires yet on my YJ and I need the trailer soon, so if anybody can help I would really appreciate it Thanks

I am around 6 ft 6 inches (78 inches) wide with the stock D30 and 35 with 2.5 inch offsets and 12.5 inch wide tires.

Sounds like you might need to trailer it sideways on the tailgate:D

Thanks for the site.

I calculated it, I would be 78.5" with my setup . The trailer I want to get is going to be 6' 9.. so that would be 81". So I am still not sure if I will fit cause its not going to be an open deck trailer, its going to have rails on the outside for the landscaping shit you know, so the tires have to fit inside the trailer.. what do you guys think?

Most "standard" car hauler trailers are available in two deck widths, the larger being 83 inches. That's the widest you'll find without going to a "bed-over-tires" type trailer, which is radically more expensive.

If you find 83 inches is still not wide enough (sounds like it will be, though), you could always reinforce the fenders with angle and just drive right over them.

Dion It might be kind of hard to drive over the fenders with the rail going down the sides. The trailer he is thinking about buying is more of a landscape style if I'm following this correctly. :)

i use a 16' utility trailer to haul my jeep around on. i have stock axles on my CJ and 35x12.50 BFG's on 15x8 rims. im not sure what the back spacing is but the tires stick about half way out of the fenders. when i pull on th trailer i have about 4-5" of extra space. also when we put my buddies bronco on the trailer with stock axles and 38x14.50 sx's, it fit just fine

4 banger , that exactly it that my problem with this style landscaping trailer I have rails on the side all around the damn trailer so I cant drive over the fenders, I am just wondering if I will have the room to fit with out touching the rails..

just get a car type flat-bed and build removable wooden sides out of 2x4's.

get a regular car hauler type flat be trailer without sides. Weld some stake pockets on the sides and make some racks for your lawn crap that fit in down through those pockets with hitch pins to secure them. Bext of both worlds. Not to mention you won't have to take your landscaping junk to the trailhead.
