This sounds weird...but I pulled out my RE, and various catalogs and went online with no luck. All my sets of YJ springs that I use on the front and rear of my CJ have a 1.5" and 1.0" inner eye diameter (NOT 1.25"). The last set I had-we turned/ground down to fit. Does anyone carry the 1.0" diameter spring bushing? I have 4 sets inmy garage and they are all the same? Am I missing something? I am getting ready to replace them again and do a set for a rear TJ leaf conversion and would prefer something I don't need to machine...

Im Sure If U Take The Spring To A Local 4x Place They Could Match Ya Up. I Had To Do The Same Thing With My Springs, Just Took It To Central 4wheel Drive And They Took Care Of Me.

Stock cj bushings are 1 inch od.I use them all the time when I make suspension links. They fit great in 1.5inch .250wall DOM.

I have heard of some YJ springs using a smaller bushing on the shackel end. However, all that I've seen, use 1.5" & 1.25". Most sites or shops will state the following. ** Please measure your spring eye diameter before ordering **

So, measure twice! Then call who ever you will be purchasing the bushings from. If still in doubt, take one of the spring packs with you like G.C. said.

I'm replacing mine now, using the Daystar greasable bolt bushing kits.
Front & Rear (Main Eye Only) # KJ02023BK = 1.5"
Front & Rear (Shackles Only) # KJ02020BK = 1.25"

Good Luck!

I wanted to bring this thread up again and add some info. I just parted out a 1989, 1990 and 1991 wrangler. I have 4 complete sets of springs now (16 total) and they all have 1" diamter bushings on the shackle end...the extra set on my CJ has the same...and my wrangler daily driver also appears to have the same 1.00" diamter OD and 1.5 on the hanger side.

my buddies aftermarket RE springs are all 1.5". i'm re-doing the mounts on the frame end for the shackles on my jeep right now, and couldnt find a kit that had 4 sets that were all 1.5". i ended up stealing them out of my buddies old RE springs, but what happens when i want to replace them?

I don't have the answer, just a source for bushings. I think it was Sceep who posted this link. The guy sourced a sheet of 3/4" poly for me to use on my tranny mount. He's got all sorts of bushings.

If I'm reading this right, you had the same problem I had. I couldn't find bushings to fit them either. But if you look at the yj spring, you will see a little metal sleeve inside the spring eye. You need to press that out. It's about 1/8 thickness and should allow for the bushing to go in once you press it out. Also, easiest way I found to do that was with a simple press and a big socket. These were with stock yj springs.

I blew those out with a torch-doubt they were 1/8" thick though-the diamter is still 1.01" mic'd.

had similar issue, ended up buying a truck bushing set, I believe Ford or GM, polyurethane, not sure for what truck, to replace my RE's. Daystar is a good source, decent prices on the kit. Also check out speedwaymotors and jcwhitney, they normally carry a bunch of poly or rubber bushing kits.

I am using 1.25 poly bushings for an anti-wrap bar, I believe came with the RE kit with the military wrap leaves.

My Skyjacker YJ springs use CJ rear shackle bushings, sounds like that is what you're looking for.

You can purchase the 1.5 bushings from Rubicon Express as a set part# RE1492 or #RE1493 per spring set.....

I know this is an old thread but when I had the exact same problem and googled it, this is the thread that kept coming up however, the answer I needed was not here. Here is the answer:

Summit Racing has the right bushing kit- Part Number: SJA-SE4YJ.
Rancho also offers a kit.

The issue is that these are aftermarket springs (most likely skyjacker). The bushings that go into the frame are of course all 1.5 inch but the spring eyes are all 1 inch.

Mine had red bushings in them with a part number stamped on them that started with an M and had four numbers after it. Mine also looked black initially due to old paint, dirt or grease.

Anyway, I hope the next guy with this problem finds my solution easily!! Oh yea, I almost forgot- I melted mine with a propane bottle torch until I could pry them out with a screw driver. Messy but fast and easy!
