Some people are telling me that it is possible to buy a spud shaft from AA or Novak and redrill a stock TH350 - NP208 adapter to adapt a d300 to the TH350 instead. Has anyone ever heard of this? I talked to AA about it who bitched and moaned about the adapter not having a bearing in it for the spud shaft to ride on. They said it would eventually wear and break without it. But Toyota cases don't have bearings for their spud shafts to ride on and they last for eons! I think AA might just be trying to sell an adapter. Has anyone ever heard of doing this? I can get a stock adapter for $25 and the spud shaft for around $200. That would save me about $200 at least.

I just ordered from NOVAK, only the imput shaft for the Dana 300 that I'm gonna mate with a 700 r4. I paid US180, and my idea was to make the adapter by my self. Then I realize that it was a stupid thing to do. Save us$200, and live with the doubt about having somenthing that could break in any moment. Just think in one fact; if your adapter breaks, lets say 200 miles from home, How much will cost you the Tow truck????. Just my though......
Bye and good luck in your project !

I made my own spud shaft out of a piece of slip yoke and an out output shaft out of an SR4 just welded together and it's still running after 3 years of hard wheelin, Just redrilled the adapter to the index that i wanted.

i have a th400 in my jeep that had a 208 on it origionally. i had to use an adapter 32 spline input shaft in my dana300 and also i had to shave/grind about 1/8 inch off the end of the th400's tail shaft but the dana300 bolted up. the cool thing is it bolted up and was clocked up nice and high. all but one of the bolts lined up too! i just removed it and i have an atlas getting ready to go in that already has the 32 spline input. i am hoping with the atlas one of it's indexing holes will line up with the one hole that didn't match the d300 pattern but i'll have to see. i did not redrill the adapter for the d300. i just ran it with one bolt missing. i had no problems with it either but i only ran it one run before i removed it.
