Is the Harbor freight band saws worth the $200, or would I be wasting my money? Does anyone have/use one of these have any comments? This is the one I am talking about:http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=37151

Its ok its not that bad of a deal. Get one of the blades that has a more coarse teeth on it cause it will take forever to cut through thick stuff. I usually put some more weight on the far edge of it cause the gravity feed kinda sucks but it was worth it. I got mine for $169 on sale.

This has been covered many times, and in great depth. Try using the search.

Keep searching, you'll find everything you want to know about band saws. Don't limit your search to HF and you'll find much.

To answer your question, yes, they are worth the $.

Basically, there are a number of the little bandsaws that are all the same with some minor variations. Different motors seem to be one thing. People have posted various modifications, links, and other information on how to improve the saws. They are a decent starting point, but have some shortcomings.

i got mine for $170 on sale. if you wait a week or 2, it will probrably go on sale there. they make great cuts but it could be a little faster. that's still with the stock blade though. i'm about to put a lenox blade on it. btw, everyone uses hf for harbor freight so you're not going to find much by searching for harbor freight. search for bandsaw. you will get a ton of info. also, go here..

I got mine off ebay. Its a makita knock off, same color and everything. Works great, but its a little loud. They usually go for $50 buy-it-now and have ~$20 shipping. Mine was $84 to my door.

mine is a Clarke, got it on sale at TSC for $165. Mine has the cast blade guides and a better stand than the HF, the main body of the saw is the same though.

my stock blade snapped a few weeks ago, put on an Morse Bi-metal blade and what a difference. In the high speed setting it cuts much faster and straighter than it used to.

There is a group on yaho groups called 4x6 bandsaw I belive that has lots of info and mods for these saws.
