: Finished my Bumpers

Well I finally finished doing my new bumpers. The rear tire can rotate 180 degrees for an improved departure angle(Sorry no pics of that yet) The rear tire can also slide out to handle 2 jerry cans behind it(no pics of that either yet). The hinge is from Rockstomper. I used 2 pieces of 2x2 in tubing and welded the seam shut. I did this so that the hitch could be recessed while still having the top tube intact. Here are some pics:

The front bumper is 2x4x 3/16in tubing with the ends capped. The shackle mounts go through to the frame. I also integrated a winch plate into it.

I also replaced my steering box, steering shaft, hoses, and got a new bracket from MORE. I did this now since the bolts for the bracket are under the winch plate

Looks very nice!
I just finished scabbing some steel along the rear section of my frame and raised my tank a bit. Now I'm getting ready to build my spare tire carrier.
Thanks for the pics.

It was. There is a permanent spot on the floor. What you see is just water.

It is called a hinge:rasta: I got it from Rockstomper. I easily could have made it myself. It is just an axle spindle , some bearings and cups, and 2 pieces of pipe. It is beefy though.

Very nice work.
I'm doing all my own work myself and looking for a clean way to lock in my tire carrier. Where did you find your latch?

Very Nice. Funning we musted had the smae thoughts. I havent gotten a chance to finish my rear bumper yet but it very much like yours. Tappered and wrapped. I opted to no do a stubby bumper for the front though. However just outside of the frame rials it bends back to get closer to the fenders. I was looking into the rockstomper hinge also. Do you like yours?

I'm using the same type of latch for my carrier. I got it from a local dealer, but here is the manufacture's website. It is model 334 that I ordered. http://www.mjvail.com/destaco/destaco38.html

You could make the same thing very easily but you would only save about $15. THe hinge is very nice otherwise. I would reccomend it.

Nice work. I really like your rear bumper. I'm going to do something very similar on my XJ. The main difference will be that my reciever hitch will be flush with the bumper. Here is a shot of my front bumper before I installed the winch and shackles.
