Thought people might like to see this. We used Ouverson Eng. (OEM) 8 lug/ disc conversion kit. The kit was COMPLETE! The whole project went extremly smoothe thanks to Randy's well thought out design and it looks trick. Anyhow, took a superduty with a 10.25 and D60 and put 2.5 tons under it. The customer already had the lift and tires in use before the swap. Other than the axle the drivetrain is stock (the power stroke has all kinds of goodies on it). 8 Lug/Disc Conversion, detroits, high clearance pans, alloy rear axles, soon to have lockouts in front (waiting on Randy :D ), modified rear with an ABS ring to keep the auto tranny happy. And YES it has a front driveshaft and yes he does use it. He can be seen regulary at back to back competitions and pulls.

Not blocks. Spring perches, solid steel machined to fit housing and welded. The rear has a block on top of the perch. What else you got? :flipoff2:

Yeah they might be solid steel and welded to the housing, but that is one hell of a lever on that spring, wrap much!? I take it traction bars are next.

Where have I seen this truck before??? It was in a tug-a-war pic.

as far as what i see the truck has a lil bit of thought that went into it. The whole lift block thing is weird but the pinion is so high that the axle wrap is gonna happen regardless. a good four link would have been a more sober choice, instead of going cheap on the suspension and blowing your wad on a wacho mural paint job. KEEP YOU WHEELS SPINNIN AND BEAVERS GRINNIN FOLKS.

I see trac bars in the 2nd and 4th pic. I like the wood block on the jack. Nice rig. Whats an 8lug conversion like cost?

Yes for the rear axle, but I didn't see any for the front. That is alot of leverage on thoughs front leafs. Specially when that front hooks up .

yeah those perches are pretty extreme. hell, the axles tubes are squared to bolt the spring directly to it.

I agree the pads are tall and they would not of been our first choice. It doesn't wrap like you might think. Those spring packs were not built for flex. They are so damn stiff the axles might as well be bolted to the frame. The guy had been running that same suspension setup with the tall perches on a D60 and 10.25 for the last year and a half. The motor is turned up and is on propane and the front end hasn't come out yet. The tranny and t-case are stock. So, whatever auto tranny came in a '97 super duty is what it's got.

Whats the total lift on that thing? how much clearance from the engine crossmember to the pinion on hte axle?

Sweet though....minus hte paint job.

The paint scheme leaves alot to be desired but..... whatever. Axles are kickass, perches are a bit funky. BUT overall cool truck with alot of potential to be badass. :smokin:

Somewhere in the neighborhood of I don't know. It was brought to us and we swaped axles. It has approx 8" between crossmember and top of the center section. Approx 42" from ground to bottom of the front bumper.

Well i know you didnt do it, but whoever made those perches and did the blocks wasnt the brightest of people... Also suprised hes using factory PS...not hydro.

Are those tires 46" Mickeys or smaller?

Nitro

We wanted to use a hydro assist, which may come later. He doesn't want full hydro because he still drives it on the road. Those are the 46" Claws.

Oh, OK. Do you know about Westtexasoffroad.com? Or were you going to DIY?

Next time you talk to him you should ask him how much lift he has...Im curious.

I know about West Texas, but haven't used their stuff. We are a PSC dealer so we get all our steering stuff from them.
