If you upgrade your Alternator to a 150-200 amp monster, I can recommend the Original Mobi-Weld. If You can find one. They now sell a newer unit I don't know about it.

I have a "Mobi-Arc" and it works really good! I just need to keep practicing Arc. I am more of a Mig man. Also I have a Ready welder II and that thing kicks ass too! :D

Not bragging at all its one Sick ugly truck it has 5 different colors on body parts, rust and all but it works. Oh I have one of those CB radios too, no room to list all. You have to see it to believe it. I need sounds to drown out the rattles and creaks. The 60" was a necessity for rock crawling on the Rubicon.

I carry a Ready Welder with me on the trails. It's loaded with .035 flux core. I also take a helmet, gloves, chipper, stainless brush and a cotton welding shirt (for welding upside down in winter when I'm wearing synthetic materials that melt  ). I use my battery and borrow another from a nearby "volunteer" to power it. The whole package is small, lightweight and highly portable. It'll do just about anything needed on the trail to get you off. I'm not the best welder by any stretch, but I can at least lay down a good penetrating bead that'll hold til it can be fixed right.
