Have a freind with a 93 Suburban. He has failed the emmissions test here in Utah. What is the firing order and which side is #1. Also what is the procedure for setting the ignition timing. 93 350 TBI.

#1 is the front cyl on the driver side. Then #3, 5 and 7.

2, 4, 6, and 8 on the passenger side.

Isn't it a computer controlled engine? I think you can alter the inital advance a bit but that's it.

Yes computer controlled but what should the stact timing be set to? Also what is the process? Anybody.

Firing order is 18436572, and the number is front drivers side odd and passenger side even. disconnect the brown wire with blk stripe and set timing to zero.

rule of thumb my pop taught me.

"the #1 cylinder is always the furthest to the front of the vehical."

you can tell that by looking at the intake manifold anf seeing where the intake runners go.
