After looking for a while i finally found a 01 F250 Superduty Powerstroke with only 39,000 miles on it. It has a leveling kit on it with some 33" muds, so i plan to lift it in a year er so after the tires are worn out. In the mean time i am planning on doing some engine mods. What are your guys thoughts about the Banks Power Pack for the 7.3 http://www.bankspower.com/System.cfm?appid=AF01&sysid=SF01, and after doing that i was planning on adding the banks power elbow, and an edge tuner. When all said and done i am going to do some mods to the transmission as well. Post any thoughts or comments.

First off there are a bunch of PSD guys here, but the real place for quality info is, here (http://www.thedieselstop.com/) .
I think what you'll find is that most guys agree that the Banks stuff works well, (not as good as some systems), but is way overpriced.
I have a 4" MBRP exhaust, an AFE filter, the intake heater removed, and run the middle program from a Superchips 1705 tuner. And of course tranny, EGT and boost gauges. If I had it to do over I'd get a Jody Tipton 6 position chip instead of the programmer.

The most important thing no matter what kit you use is to put in a tranny temp gauge. The 4R100 will take any power you throw at it, but only if it is under 200 degrees for max safety. The next thing is to have a pyro gauge to keep you from melting the engine too a giant puddle of steel. And a boost gauge helps too.
Sounds like a nice truck, if it is, take the jump and be ready to get a bad case of diesel-itus. hahaha

ya the site Roc Doc listed is the best. I have a similar setup as he does,
AFE Stage 1, Edge Evolution (usually run middle program too), 4" Powerflow Exhaust from www.powerstrokeshop.com
I am really happy with that setup for what I have in it.

As has already been said the banks is good but once they make it once they don't think about it again simply this is what we have and the world of diesel hot rodding is big and rapidly changing so for the 7.3 you're buying what banks developed 5 years ago and hasn't thought about since.
The power elbow I personally think is a waste of money it restricts you to using banks exhaust parts also and as good a sales pitch as banks can throw I don't think that the elbow will help that much or you would find other people making something similar. In moderate to warm climates you can gut the EBPV (moved w/ power elbow) and gain the same power.
As far as the leveling kit I personally wouldn't the trucks tend to level themselves out over time and especially if you tow with it. The back ends are high unloaded to give you an even rake when the truck is loaded or towing. Having the nose up in the air towing is not a good thing. I'd hook whatever trailer you plan on towing w/ whatever to it before you stick the leveling kit on there.
The one thing that is in the banks kit that does have good benefits is the intercooler upgrade but there are other options out there for you in that department as well such as pieces from hypermax.
The site listed above has good information and you'll find good infromation here, (http://www.superdutydiesel.com) here, (http://www.thedieselgarage.com) and here. (http://www.oilburners.com)

hey thanks for the info guys. Keep posting any thoughts, every little bit helps. As for the leveling kit, it is already on my truck, the original owner put it on, so i will leave it for now. I plan to lift it in a year er so after the tires wear out. I will look into those websites.

Go to the Dieseltstop as someone mentioned and do a search on DP Tunner, or Jody Tipton. You will get a plethora of info. I just got the $75 PCM flash to 80HP and it is very nice!! :smokin:
But be sure you get gauges, pyro, boost, and if an automatic a tranny temp.
Also do the wicked wheel, straight pipe it or get 4" exhaust, bigger air filter. Do these items and you will notice a huge difference in your truck. The list goes on forever, but these are realative inexpensive and get you a lot of power.
My screen name on that site is also twistedtj

I have an '01 with the banks stinger plus. When I frist installed the kit I thought it ran ok till I got beat by my old hypertech power programer on a bone stock truck. Talk about pissed off. I understand that the new banks chips are better. I have had a couple of diff. chips in it in the last couple of years. My current one is a 4 pos. from Diesel Innovations (stock, 125,140,extreme) I drive in the 140hp almost all the time. with a 4.30 gear and 35's and a very heavy foot I get 18mpg

Here is the link for DP-Tunner
LINK (http://www.dp-tuner.com/index.htm)
I am telling you get the 80 HP PCM flash, but be sure to have gauges and free flow exhaust. You will be super happy. If you want more power but have to tow then get the 2-3 position chip.

TS Performance, Diesel Inovations, and several others along with DP Tuning (Jody Tipton) make a chip for these trucks that are just unreal.
As mentioned above Guages are a good addition one to watch the EGT's melting a trubo can get expencive , The other to watch the Tranny Temps..You don't want to cook one these trannys ($$) .
Edge Juice with Attitude is a nice system also. Banks is a good starter system but expencive for what you get.. check www.thedieselgarage.com
