how much shorter is one vs the other. ie, could a TTB inner be used in place of a solid 44 inner in a pinch (trail spare). reason i am asking is because a buddy is looking for a short side spare for his solid 44 and those aren't nearly as common around here as TTB units are. like i said, it would just be an emergency spare to get him off the trail, i know they are slightly different lengths.

It will not work.

Around 4" differance on the stub inner shaft.

Try a Chevy Dana 44, 1/2 or 3/4 ton.
