I replaced my side cover gasket yesterday after work, it was leaking above the fuel pump, Now.... it still leaks!

Just along the bottom between the fuel pump and the distributor! I didn't use any RTV should I have? It's a cork gasket from Napa. I cleaned the cover real well and the block. No warps or bends in the cover either.

Help.

Thanks,

Mike

I use Toyota FPIG (black) instead of RTV on anything that requires a gasket on the engine. It is more expensive than RTV, but it has always worked for me.

I allways use a gasket adhesive/sealand on one side of cork gaskets (and others) then adhere the gasket to the removable part and let set.
Wipe a thin coat of oil on the other side and torque it down.

Allows you to re-use the gasket a few times if you need to remove the cover.

Old British biker trick :)
