These people are about 5 hours away from me in Brazoria, TX.
They seem to have a very friendly, knowledgable staff on the phones.
Excellent website (http://www.metalbuildingdepot.com/) that has a custom quote generator.
They seem impressed with their products, but I haven't seen one of their buildings yet.
Has anyone dealt with these folks?

I did a quick quote on a garage like mine and it seemed expensive. I dealt with steelbuilding.com when i ordered mine. great quality and very affordable.

Biggin, I think you might be right about the price.
They have metalbuildingdepot beat by about $700 with this quote, but it should be said that this estimate is for a neighboring parish.
They couldn't give me an instant quote for my parish because of more stringent codes being in effect since we are near the coast. They are going to email me a detailed quote later.
A quick and dirty estimate on a 30x50 w/3 rollups from the steelbuilding.com site:
Width: 30'
Length: 50'
Height: 10'
Slope: 1:12
Bay Configuration: 2 Bays at 25 ft each.
Code: IBC
2000
Wind: 110
Ground Snow: 0 Live Load: 20
Roof Load: 0
Exposure: C
Seismic Coefficient: 0.2
$10,257.16
Price includes shipping to your job site in Iberia, LA.

The 30x50 with 3 roll up doors quote from Metalbuildingdepot was $10,947.81, not much of a difference really.
Need to study up some more to see if there's a difference in construction or materials quality next.

There are a lot of companies that doing nothing more than "resell" other builders stuff. Major PITA when it comes time to discover a missing trim. You're much better off dealing directly with a larger company if there are any quality issues on the metal finish, etc. If you are dealing with a "reseller" there is zero reason for them to assist after the fact, as they'll pass blame onto someone else.

My building (30' x 50' x 14' side walls) is a Metal Mart. Four large (2 12' x 12; 2 12 x 10) doors & full insulation was about $16K last year. Steel prices started going throught the roof, but have come back down. So when comparing prices just be aware of that.

They have TWO styles, Standard & Heavy Duty. Yep, Heavy Duty is for Coastal regions. link (http://www.metalmarts.com/metal_buildings_roofing_fencing_prefab2.asp)

With birds, wasp, and other critters... I really wish I had gone with the Morton Building. Then again for the price, nice to have a place to work. Just need $$$ to finish it out.

Thanks Tom.
Just got off the phone with a person from Metal Mart, turns out that they have a vendor here in Lafayette.
Should be calling me back with a quote.
Gone to look up Morton Building.

That is very nice looking building. I have your shop thread saved in my favorites, along with a couple of others for study later on.
I saw an ad for post frame buildings yesterday, and thought about that option overnight. They might be cheaper, but I don't think it's for me. Basically wooden construction with a sheetmetal skin. Substantial savings if you go that route though, like about 40-50%.
I'm finding out that the cost of erecting the building and pouring the slab is gonna be about 50% of the total cost to get this thing built. That's not even the electrical or plumbing.
Before I found out what the cost was for it to be done by a professional, I was thinking along the lines of...it's gotta be done right the first time, and I don't have the time to learn how to do it.
I'm gonna study up and see if I can't do some of this work myself.
Thoughts?

I'm getting way off topic for the thread title now, going more into general buildings and construction and cost research, think I'll start a new thread so all of this is easier for searchers to find later.

for me I had to hire out :

concrete work
roll up door install
roof install

and I was able to figure out the rest with the help of a few buddies.

on my project the cost of the building was roughly 1/3 of the final cost. but I also have a 70' block wall on the side of mine as well as a large concrete approach 35 x 30 I have about 30k total in mine with the building about 12k.

also note that my project was done pirate style so i didn't pay all the normal cost of studys, fees, permits, soil samples and all the crap citys want you to do :D
