It needs it bad and we need to show that the wheelers are doing something to help.

Just a suggestion, wait until the ground has dried, (reference Flashlightmans comments in the other threads) if in fact you plan to clean the trail.
If you just want to clean the road area I would suggest taking no more than 5 or so vehicles down and doing this. The vehicles would not even need to be 4 wheel drive opting instead for vehicles with large beds.

I agree... It's gonna rain the next two days and everyone should stay off the trail till it dries back up. Depending on how much rain we get, that could take a few weeks. I'm up for a cleanup run however when we can access the trail without doing more harm than good. I may be older and slower than most of you but I can still pick up trash. I'll even donate some $$$ towards the dump fee to dispose of it properly... :D:D:D

Where is Jergens? on Glenns earlier thread I stated I would help with my F-250 and I stand by it. I just need to to know when and where. BTW, March 23/24 is out for me.

maybe shoot for the first week of april of so...The main trash is on the first opening that is easily accessable. If it is still wet a small group of people could walk it with trash bags.

You might want to contact BLM and see if they can haul the trash that is collected away.

At Sand Mountain, we coordinate cleanups with BLM. They provide us with all of the trash bags. Dumpsters are already onsite so that isn't an issue.

I will try to make it to a cleanup. When you come up with a date, please remember to post it in the Land Use section too.

we, RCRC and POR, walked the dirt road with the BLM recently inorder to take pictures and do a complete inventory of the spur trails that neeed to be blocked and the 2wd garbage dumpsites that will need to be cleaned. We are actively trying to adopt the trail but, because it is a federal preserve you can imagine the politics involved. Please stay tuned and ready, an official clean up is in the works and will be a lot of fun for everonre involved.

As GEARMAN said theres never gonna be any real wheeling there, just more headachs and tickets for anyone looking for rocks.

For all the people out of town that have never been, you must realize this is not a true 4 wheel drive trail. It is basically a small firebreak/dirt road. Nothing hardcore or extreme about it. I know a tow truck driver that drove his tow truck down to haul out a stripped Blazer  The offers for help are great but it would hardly be worth driving a distance to help. The locals should be able to tackle it and if not then they/we all SUCK!
