I have an 86 Samurai that wont idle, when its cold it runs fine but after it warms a little it stalls out. Sometimes when I tap the throttle it will stick a bit and idle but the rpms are slightly erratic....WTF?

I had a similar problem, what i had to do was remove the carburetor, remove the throttle body base plate, disassemble the baseplate and clear all the idle jet passages.Remember to do this correctly, you must drive out the pin that blocks the idle mixture screw and clear the jet that the screw regulates. also its a good idea ive found to use some blue threadlocker on the baseplate screws. I know it all sounds like a pain in the a$$ but its worked a few times for me.

Did you check for any vacuum leaks? If there are not any then sounds like the carb has shit in it.Diasasemble and clean it out and use compressed air to clear out all the passage ways.

I went through that once and my dad used to build race cars back in the 60's and shit and he said he knew what to do to rebuild the carb. long story short: BUY A REBUILT CARB!! trust me, it comes with those electronic things on the carb all new and shit. with a warranty. Advance auto parts. $250. part number last time I checked and years before that was SZ250 or SZ200. jd
