If you have a JD2 or one of the knockoffs a D60 crosspin is a good replacement for the 7/8" pins if you ever need one.

... but the real question is, will a JD2 or knockoff bender pin make a good replacement for a D60 crosspin... :p

Good tech tip.

Guys,

We CNC plasma cut the arms for a JD2 bender I'm making. I called JD2 and they wanted $73 for the pin set. I think I can do better.

What is this D60 crosspin? I'm sorry about my ignorance I'm not into trucks I'm an ATVers. I'm not familiar with the D60 terminology. I guess that means I'm clueless and searching for a clue! What are the D60's and where can I find them?

I was looking here for cad drawings of the JD2 pins. No luck finding them yet.

gents,

What about hardened & ground shafting from www.MCMASTER.com ? It's called "Thompson shaft", available in several lengths and diameters. It's also super accurate (.0002" on the dia).

Then you add shaft collars to act as stops and you're all done!?!

D60 is an abbreviation for Dana 60, a very popular rear axle assembly commonly found under 3/4 ton trucks. It is popular with the rockcrawling crowd primarily because they are fequently swapped into their machines to prevent breakage of the rear axle.

The cross pin referred to is the pin that is inside the differential which locates the spider gears inside the carrier.

D60's can be found at your local junkyard, depending on your area, they usually go for around $200.00 for a complete axle.

A cross pin might cost $15.00 or less.

Probably bent one. I know I did, I got in a hurry, I wasn't paying attention, the pin wasn't all the way in and presto!

Start bending some real tube big daddy!!!

I remade my pins out of 4140 pht, no problems since.

Not to cut on you too hard, but if you cnc cut your arms- you should already know how big(od) to make your pins. Length would be a sum of all the parts together.
