Never heard of these shafts until yesterday, so I did a little research today, and this is what I found.
Randy's R&P is selling Yukon 4340 Chromoly front 44 shafts for around $390 for inners, outers, and new U-joints.
All this info came from the guy on the other end of the phone, so take it for what it's worth, but this is all the info he told me.
They are not selling someone elses shafts as Yukon brand, they are supposedly making them as a unique brand. It sounded like they are subcontracting the actual production though, which could mean that they are pretty close to someone elses shafts.
They are 4340 chromoly alloy(I'm no metalurgist, so I didn't ask many more questions about make-up or hardening, etc.).
They are for the large 1 3/16" caps(duh), and are machined to accept full circle clips.
They are supposedly getting thier first batch in about 6 weeks, but they are taking back orders now.
They have a no questions asked 5 year warranty(not sure if it covers yoke distortion caused by U-joint failure, forgot to ask).
The guy I was talking to said they tested thiers against Mosers, and Mosers failed first. He said they then sent the shafts back to be hardened one more time after that(not sure about the hardening procedure, that's just what he said. Bear in mind...THEY tested them). This, of course, led him to believe, and claim, that the Yukon shafts are better than, or at least as good as, any other alloy shaft out there.
These are the prices he gave me, which he said would apply to just about all 44 fronts(not sure if that meant stock lengths or custom lengths included), and this was prefaced by "If I remember correctly..."
long side inner $120
short side inner $90
stubs $65 each
full set with u-joints about $390
If these shafts really are everything they claim, that's one HELL of a price break from everybody else.
I posted earlier about this, before I got this info, and nobody replied.
Anybody else heard anything about these axles?
