i have a d44 out of a 79 f250, and i believe it has dual piston calipers that need to be replaced. will single piston calipers bolt in place of em or am i stuck needing the dual piston ones? its a HP d44 that had 3.54 gears in it stock. its going into a ranger, so i dont figure it'll need quite as much braking power as was built into it to start with.

I'm looking for info on this subject too, your post came at agood time. I have the same frt. from a 78 F-250, but it had one of the calapers removed when I got it out of a salvage yard. I was wondering if maybe a two wheel drive used the same calaper, I have a 89 E-250 van I was going to see how they compared. I may do this through part numbers first to see and then remove it to see how close it matches - it's getting stripped anyway.

As for as less pistons go, hell I want - need all the brakes I can get

RE: in other post.

You can use any dual piston that is held in the same way, pre 86. Get the one piece ones, that way you don't have to mess with the big ass bolts.
