: post '97 4.0L swap

has anyone swapped in a post '97 4.0L out of a cherokee, we're tryin to do one in a cj, but we can't get any spark, and yes we've checked all the small things, we need to know if there is something we missed w/ the computer

What are all the small things that you've checked out???? It could be alot of things, I just swapped a 98 TJ 4.0L in my 87 YJ i had some spark trouble and it wouldnt start... I was missing two fuses I didnt know about.. But maybe I can help you out, what have you checked and ruled out so far....

Well the original post was for me. Thanks Landon. Yeah for some unknown I am not getting spark. Did you keep the OBD-II computer? Was it from a manual or automatic. I heard it didn't matter of course that could have been for the earlier computers. Anyway the coil has voltage but we are still getting no spark. 1. could the distributor be that far out oof alignment that it wouldn't fire at all. 2. I guess it could still be the CPS although I have checked it many times. 3. I guess it could also be the pick up in the distributor, junk yard Item. I got the diagnostic connector finally hooked up and I am only getting 3 codes. 1. Battery temp sensor input voltage too high.(no sensor) 2. Colant temp sensor input voltage too high.(guy at part store sold me one with the wrong connector on it). 3. Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction. (don't have it). Are any of these codes enough to keep it from letting it spark?
