It's good to see someone from EP making the effort to keep the area clean. I grew up there, went to school there and used to wheel out there before it was the popular thing to do. Everytime I come back in to town it is so discouraging to see how much trash there is everywhere. When I wheeled in those dunes, the closest houses were by Eastwood. Not any more. Wish I could come help.

If you are intrested in a quick history lesson, when I was growing up in EP my dad and grandad had the lease on the Hueco Mts, south of the hwy. Their lease went all the way to the top of the Hueco's and all the way out to what we called Sugarloaf, the mountain/hill on the southeast side of the dunes. Horizon lake was a stock tank in those days and some of the best dove and quail hunting to be had was in that area. I spent a great deal of time playing in those hills. Then the county tax assesor, Roy Bean, was able to get the lease from the land owner by questionable means and we were out. Some years later, Horizon Land Corporation went in with Bulldozers and made roads where none should ever have been made. The rest is history. There used to be an old Rock House, southwest of the dunes, that my buddies and I used to camp at. Great area to wheel and play. Makes you teary eyed doesn't it. If the cleanup doesn't happen until around the 4th of July, let me know, I will come help.

Thats too close to home . that general area is where i have been doing everything from rock crawling to high speed desert racing but lately jobe has had full run of that area now and are starting to block off a lot of the back roads. the last race my wife and i helped with. we went around horizon and up the river bed for some real fun and back south towards big red . my wife and i are here due to military obligations but i grew very fond of the place.so i am trying leave here better than when i came .even if there is no clean up on 4 th of july i would like to meet you and have a cold one on me.
