What's it like up there right now? Can one get all the way through? What is the snow like at Buck Island, as far as camping goes? Any pics would also be great.

Thanks, Phil:usa:

Currently, (I haven't been up there for a week now so it's relatively currently!) If you're set up, the whole trail IS passable,, just depends how long you want to be up there. My pics of buck last weekend are yet to be developed but this is what spider looked like a few weeks ago. We are currently getting some fresh. In the shallow spots, there is a base of only a few feet. Average base is roughly 7 feet with drifts up to roughly 15. If you plan to go... let me know. We're going to do fordyce in two weeks, after that trip, I'd be game to do the con again!

Locked up with 35x12.50 SSR's on beadlocks. I have been in the snow a lot with it but never on a trail like rubicon. What do you think?

Thanks, Phil:usa:

No offense, but I'd say from experience that your setup would be marginal for the con in the winter, depending on conditions. How heavy is your rig? Generally when we go someone (me) has to lead the group with 38's or bigger and a light weight rig to break trail. After the trail is packed, the heavier and smaller tired rigs can follow. Do you have a good charging system and a good winch? Winching can be a frequent means of travel if the snow is overly soft. Body damage can't be a concern. Two guys in our group that goes regularly have 35's and two lockers and they do fine. They might not be able to lead all the time!

:D But they do ok.

How heavy is your rig?

I don't really know a weight but it's a TJ with hi pinion 9's and nothing else that would ad a huge amount of weight. The usual; bumpers, whinch rockerguards but like I said nothing that is really heavy...
Well, maybe we will just go not indending to get that far but to just go and have fun. Also, when does the snow usually start to melt?

Thanks, Phil:usa:
