i have a friend that wants to change his 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel. we where talking about using toy axels. if not topy axels what would be a good set of axels to run that would not have to be cut? but i dont know if we should get a 4 wheel drive trans with t case or should we just get another tcase with an adapter? i am a jeep guy and dont know anything about nissans. any pics or info that you nissan guys have about this that can help would be nice.

thanks for you help

brian

I would go with Yota axles and a divorced t-case from a 720, that would be the easiest way to go. If you got a 4wd tranny and t-case, the front output will be on the wrong side to run a Yota front.

Skidplate alley on N4W and the SAS section on 4x4parts have a few SAS nissans.

sell the 2 wheel drive and buy a 4. save yourself a big pain in the ass and save your wallet

Why would this save a big pain and the ass and his wallet? He wants to put Yota axles under it, so either way he is going to be hacking off the front suspension and doing an axle swap, so all he has to do is add a t-case, which depending on how he goes, could cost him as little as $100 for a 720 case or spend $600-$700 and get a Yota case and OTT divorced adapter.

2wd Hardbodies aren't worth dick, a comperable 4wd one is going to be $1500+ more than the 2wd is worth, doesn't seem like a money saving option.

Not to mention the guy actually knows what hes got with his 2WD hardbody. If he buys the 4x4, god knows what the previous owner did to it, or if they even changed the oil.

Plus, hunting for the 4x4, trying to sell the 4x2, paying extra for the 4x4, paying to get the 4x4 changed over into his name, lifting it and beefing up parts to make it half way, and all that other crap sounds like alot of trouble just to have IFS 4-Wheel drive.

Hes probably going to get lift out of the SAS swap, and the Toyota 8" front would be able to handle more than that IFS could. Not to mention he could actually get some flex out of the setup.

I say go for it!

I just used jeep parts on my 620 and it cost me about $600 + the drivelines.
