anyone know where i could find such an odd size of tap?
I am threadding tube for my fourlink...
the tube shop wont thread it, and i am waiting to hear back on machine shop costs to have it done. But thought if i could get the taps cheap, i would just do it myself.
anyone have any 1.25x12 taps for sale or know where i could buy some?

Cheapest I found will still run you over $120 for both. The goods ones are over $100 apiece http://www1.mscdirect.com. I had Off Road Design make my tie rod and they did an awesome job for a great price. But it looks like they only thread to 7/8" maybe they can do 1 1/4"? worth a phone call.

Tapping big threads like that deep by hand is a ROYAL pain in the arse. I'd ask a machine shop to do it or maybe use weld in threaded inserts.

why not weld in inserts?

x2.. my arm hurts just thinkin about that. A machine shop shouldn't charge much to do it on a lathe.

Don't be so sure. Internal threading on a blind hole is a bitch.

Try www.e-taps.com

true true we do them in one setup that way we dont loose location of the hole. You will chip the tap if your not directly over your hole

Do the inserts... Buy them or make them.... I just went throught this myself...
I made four plug welds in addition to the usual seam... If you have a really tight fit and then after welding it begins to bind slightly use a grade 8 bolt and use the cutoff tool to cut notches in the bolt to act as cutting edges.. (parallel to the bolt axis).... works awesome as a thread chaser...
or the poor people grind the tips off of a G8 nut and use them as inserts then plug weld the piss out of them...... I know a ~500Hp Chev that can't break that for a fact...
Just my op.
