: 1976 motor into a 1980?

i searched & came up with nada!
will a 360 out of a 76 ford f250 bolt up in a 1980 f250 with a 351 big block/without changing trannies?

any info or link to post very appreciated..

no, you need an fe bolt pattern. the 360 is a turd compared to a 460, which will basically bolt in by the way.

it has the 4 speed manual with a divorced 205
if it wont work then i dont have to deal with the motor//i can just sell the whole truck for parts//if it would work then i would have to pull the motor
(lot of work, & i dont wanna)

The FE series was never offered in the 80-up chassis, not only will it not bolt to the existing transmission(FE's used a longer input shaft on manuals IIRC, so even the proper bellhousing would leave you SOL) but, you'd have to build motor mounts and stands, P/S pump bracketry, and other fun stuff along those lines. A 400 would drop in in place of the M with no mods, and a 460 is a bolt in swap using factory parts from an 83 or later factory install, or readily avalable aftermarket stuff.

Your going to run into smog issues to. I belive the rule for a swap is it has to the exact year or newer. It will also be fun registering it.

the 80 is already on the road & legal so it wouldnt need to be smogged..
it was going to be kind of a favor to a friend..but thats way too much $h!t to do!!
i got alot of fixin on my jeep to do! i'm just gonna sell the 76 for $400 to a guy i work with & be done with it..
thanx much for the info(gonna save alot of hassle & time)!!more time to drink beer,work on my jeep, & play battlefield 2!!
