: Looking to burn the paint off the guy in front of me

All,

Looking for suggestions on the best off road lights to be mounted on my bumper. Only want to mount 2 lights and will only use them for off road purposes (and the occassional cute little SUV with his bright lights on coming the opposite direction). Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, my budget is no more than around $100 a piece.

I have headlight replacements. IPF H4's. They are a 7in round light that I have 90/145 bulbs in them. Because of the prism on the lense they don't offend other drivers, both oncoming and those you are following. This is done because the low beams have a flat edge at the top that keeps the the light down low. The high beams are brighter than most offroad lights.

Thanks guys for the info.

Hey dickhead, I mean tinbender. Sorry to trample on your cute little name but I've had mine for about the last 28 years or so (CB handle) and my grandpa (same name) had it long before that. He's a machinest/millwright.

:flipoff2: :flipoff2: Hope you don't loose much sleep over it :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Yeah, cause you'd know by my login on this fawkin web site. Dude, you're a hard core typist!

I don't know what your problem is man. That time of the month? Seen some of your other posts and you normally have something constructive to add. It's posts like this that waste everybodies time. A PM would have gone a long way here. Instead, me and everybody else are getting notifications that the mighty Tin Bender is upset that somebody has gotten too close to his precious login name on the POR site.

Didn't know it was sooo important to ya! :flipoff2:

Golly, the whole 4x4 clubs name! You can imagine my level of concern. I exchanged messages with other "Tin Benders" and they didn't seem to get their panties all bunched up.

I didn't start a club up called the Iron Benders, I chose to use a handle which I inherited from my grandpa a hell of a long time ago. I know how important you think you are, but believe it or not it has nothing to do with you.

And I don't question your "hardcoreness", I'm just not impressed by it.

Dude, you're the one that started this whole thing. I'm getting ready to shop for some lights, thought I'd get the benefit of the collective experience of the board. Next thing I know some joker is coming out of the blue complaining about my login name with nothing to add about my question. How do you figure it isn't important to you.

Fatkid, thanks for keeping it light. I'm sure your old man was a handsome man. Hardcorn man, hardcorn.

Anybody have any input about lights or are there any Iron Blender clubs out there that want a piece?

I can live with that, but now when all of a sudden dude was posting as High Hooder, well I had to go ballistic:nuke: When you can choose any name under the sun, try to find one that's NOT being used by one of the more prominant board members:rolleyes:

I use european bulbs 100/160 watt i got when i was stationed in germany they cut through any high beams or bad weather . on my 1st vehicle i actually had to change my lenses to glass because i melted right through the plastic ones. i had a kc in the back of my bed but a local cop said to take it down or cover it up .and you can buy many different bulbs for your needs without buying all new assembly .

OR YOU COULD RUN AIR CRAFT LANDING LIGHTS LIKE MY BUDDY DID ...HE IS A CREW CHIEF FOR THE ARMY .. I HAVE NEVER SEEN LIGHTS THAT BRITE ! BUT YOU COULD SEE HIS DASH LIGHTS DIM WHEN HE TURNED THEM ON!

Aircraft landing lights use 24 volt to 48 volts. The dash wouldn't have dimmed because the landing lights had to be on a different system.

Chris Tucker - I don't know the name of the movie but he was at a car wash. Same time man, same time!

Anyway, get ready. I'm going to Matt SS. 3-2-1

I'm thinking about getting the 75/160 watt non-DOT approved ones and clipping off the tab so they fit in the normal headlights.

Elk Grove PD already has a hard on for me for mud flaps, registration, noise pollution, etc. No need to add to the list!

To celebrate the return of the red stars, I'll give you a straight answer (seems like the board is in fightin' mood today)! :flipoff2:

I have had PIAA, Hella and KC Gaylighters, and none could hold a candle to the big IPF 900's I have now. They throw out a nice flood pattern, have nice metal housings and heavy duty mounts, excellent lenses and come with covers, which to me was crucial for long drives on dirt/gravel roads with other vehicles. They come will a complete wiring harness and a very neat self-contained switch that looks like a computer mouse. I liked the switch so much that I bought a couple extra ones for my rocklights.

I bought them three years ago for $160 and have absolutely no regrets, I would *strongly* recommend them to anyone. I believe the price remains in that range, definitely less than $200 for the two lights.

I'd just take a look at the more "poserish" web-stores.... You can sometimes catch a good deal if they have a sale of somethin. I remember looking around for a while, and i actually emailed a rep from PIAA and asked him about a couple deals i had found. He said most of the "sales" were of crappy stuff, but i had found one that he couldn't believe the price of.
I didn't end up buying them, but i have a bookmark in my favourites somewhere.....
Just take a look around on the net though, you'll find something i'm sure. And for your purposes get a flood style, so you can see all the ruts etc. in those fun back roads. :D
