so here's my first real post, hope you can help!!!

i've been smelling gas the last week or so, and i noticed one of my injectors was leaking around it. so yesterday i pulled the whole fuel rail and all the injectors, replaced all the o-rings on the fuel rail and on the injectors, and when i reinstalled it the same injector continued to leak....the only thing i can think of is its a bad injector so im going to try that route today.....ANY SUGGESTIONS....

thanks

goto www.autozone.com then goto repair info then on the left hand side there is a section called productrs and how to's

in there look up injector. they actually have a pretty indepth section on how to check them

not sure if this link will work but:
http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/04/f6/f7/0900823d8004f6f7.jsp

if that didn't work here is an excert:
Injector leakage must not exceed the manufacturer's specifications.
If the injectors leak into the intake ports on a hot engine, the air/fuel ratio may be too rich when a restart is attempted a short time after the engine is shut off.
When the injectors leak, they drain all the fuel out of the rail after the engine is shut off for several hours. This may result in slow starting after the engine has been shut off for a longer period of time.
While checking leakage at the injector tips, observe the fuel pressure in the pressure gauge.
If the fuel pressure drops off and the injectors are not leaking, the fuel may be leaking back through the check valve in the fuel pump.
Repeat the test with the fuel line plugged.
If the fuel pressure no longer drops, the fuel pump check valve is leaking.
If the fuel pressure drops off and the injectors are not leaking, the fuel pressure may be leaking through the pressure regulator and the return fuel line.
Repeat the test with the return line plugged.
If the fuel pressure no longer drops off, the pressure regulator valve is leaking.

19# Fomoco injectors from 90's mustangs work great for replacements. You can get a used set of them for about what 1 OEM injector costs new from the dealer and replace them all instead of just one. Better spray pattern than Jeep units. Lot's of Mustang guys pull them off to upgrade to high # units & have them laying around.

Just for reference, here is the part number for the o-rings that you are going to need. Its less than $15. 83503637

Those 19# injectors are something that you should definitely be looking at if you have any other performance mods on your 4.0, they really make a difference. The 4 spray ports put the OEM crap to shame.
