: What does your club do for fund raisers?
I think we have a decent one for this year, but at the last meeting there wasn't a whole lot of ideas being brought up. I would like to get some more $$$ in the club so we can donate more to help fight the greenies.
So, what does your club do that works well?
(Not sure if I want any input from the Benders on this one:p :bender: )
brimy311 03-06-2002, 10:52 AM alot of clubs around us(not us, we just started 7 months ago) do "road ralley's" it is a scavenger hund wiht clues and you must have street legal 4x4's...you go get the clue then go to the next point...ocasionally doing offroad obsticlas...
good luck
club I used to belong to did 50/50s. anyone who wants to can throw in a few bucks. for every buck, you get a ticket. then one ticket is drawn. winner gets half, club gets half.
MudBunny 03-06-2002, 11:25 AM I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but oh well :flipoff2:
Every March the Allterrainers hold a Ramp "Event" which is one of the best attended non-wheeling events in the 4x4 community.
Cost is $10.00 to participate - there are prizes for highest score and random prizes for all participants. We sell hotdogs and burgers/pop, etc and allow participants to bring stuff to sell in a swap meet style setting.
In September one of the biggest 4-wheeling shops in the Lower Mainland of B.C. (Sport Trucks Unlimited) has a show n' shine and we are the sponsor club that runs all the events during the day. Again we bring our RTI ramp and have a teeter-totter event. Sport Trucks throws in a SHITLOAD of GREAT prizes, supplies burgers and dogs/pop and everyone who owns a 4x4 is there to show off their truck.
We get ALL PROCEEDS from this day which is usually in the thousands. Couple this with the money we make on the ramp event in March = alot of money for charity in our coffers.
Since we are a non-profit off road club the taxman says we have to donate all our money to charity, which we are quite happy to do. Last year we donated over $500. in toys to the needy kids at Christmas and sponsored 2 families at Christmas providing them with all the trimmings for a happy day.
Brian1 03-06-2002, 08:35 PM The club in my town also does the 50/50 raffle. They collect aluminum cans and also have an occasional garage sale of junk and 4x4 stuff.
ChevyGal 03-06-2002, 08:39 PM Crab feeds rules... mmmmmm crab..... :D
4BANGERYJ 03-06-2002, 09:18 PM The club I'm in cuts down almond trees once a year and sells the wood to raise money. They can always find someone to donate trees. It's a lot of work and only about half the club shows on that day. We should call it a beer run then maybe more people would show.:D
bluesman2a 03-06-2002, 09:20 PM [flame-suit on] :flipoff2: in advance.
Our club had a decent turn out for the last two events we did for Jeep Shows. Unlike the average "show and slime" ugly, nasty, effective rigs won the day at our events (1st CJ was running 14 bolt rear, 60 front full width on 38's with a rattle can job, the owner claims it only gets washed when it rains).
With our crowd it's just a good excuse to break out the BBQ, lawn chairs, let the crumb catchers loose, check out everybody's mods, and listen to the live band.

How about lutefisk then ;) Or charge $5 for a ride in your jeep (I'll help carry it)
But seriously, we've donated some money to help against the MRR thing - but our club just uses money from our membership fee. It would be nice if MN4WDA would set up a fundraiser so all the clubs could get involved in an organized way, and make some real money that way even the small clubs could help.
Im not really in a 4x4 club, but I am in a business fraternity (school orientated, not socialy orientated) and we are doing somehting that made me think about somehtng YALL could do...
Your club designs a cool t shirt for something like "carnage on the con'. Sell them at a profit. Make sure everyone knows the mula goes to the greenies.
Everyone likes t shirts and they are easily made.
Hell, Id ORDER one online!

I'm gonna use your short Willys as a ramp in a few months:flipoff2: ;)
We donate to the MN4WDA, plus I think we are running the ramp at Dresser for 'em also.
MN4WDA fees might be going up, also..... All because of the MRR freaks.
Maybe a Eelpout tourney would be a good fund raiser:D
I 'm for the Eelpout turney!
We had a turkey feed once, Did not make out so good$
