Differences between an '82 T-18A/NP208 and a '79 T-18A/Dana 20 ???

T-18 with the 20 is toast... will the 20 bolt up in place of the NP208? Tail shaft mod??

BTW, these came out of an '82 J-20 and a '79 Cherokee. Thanks, and give me your opinions. I'm after putting the T-18 in a CJ and going for the Tera low gears for the Dana 20.

Cheif, the 20 will not bolt up in place of the 208. What's wrong with the '79? You should be able to swap output shafts and adapters, or swap the '82 guts into the '79 case. Do either of the trannys have the long input shaft? If so, swap it for a Ford input shaft and you're good go in a CJ.

The one with the 208 would be my choice you can bolt a 300 right on. Either way you will need to swap the input, unless they were behind the I-6.
