I have a set of extended flares that I had painted to match my Jeep. Since then I have realized painted flares are :rainbow: the paint peels off when they get hit.

So, I want to strip the paint without wrecking the plastic, Then they will just be black plastic like they were when new.

How about sand blasting with glass beads? Other ideas on how to do that?

Thanks,
Phil

Peel off as much as possible and then put paint thinner on a rag and scrub it off

How about just wheel the rig til the paint gets scrubbed off on trees, rocks, whatever.

I'd also be interested in what works to get the paint off of the sahara tj flares. The only ones I can find are painted a :rainbow: white. or cost $240:mad:

I just saw a guy on the weekend that did soda blasting. basically used baking soda. He took paint off a windshield and rubber gasket without hurting the glass or rubber.

Maybe check it out locally? Look for old car restorers they use ti on thin metal.

Yep..check with the old car guys. I saw walnut hull blasting at the Harley Davidson paint dept. and the old car guys use this also...it works!!
