i know this sounds like a really stupid question, but i've been thinking about it. looking at my brother in laws tacoma there is a shaft coming down out of the p/s box going to the rack and pinnon. heres my question. could you mount the r/p on your axle then run a driveshaft style shaft to the box. has anyone done this. thanks

I think they make steering shafts like that. Should be called borgeson shafts. They have mini u-joints and all.

I havent seen it done, but I've thought the same thing, a steering shaft with a long slip spline. It could work, but a lot of racks arent up to the task. A taco rack would probably be strong enough for a zuk.

you might as well just go full hydraulic. had anyone tried doing this with an electric hydraulic pump?? or do you just do the standard toy power steering pump??

Hydraulic is the way to go for rocks only, but they are a handful over 30mph (at least the few I've got to drive). R&P might give most f the benefits, but with some control.

i know a guy from provo utah that drove all the way to vernal in his all hydraulic full size bronco on 37's of course a sammy is different because the weight transfer ratios differ drasticly
