I have no tailgate on my flatty. Will a GPW tailgate fit on a CJ2A? Are the ones with the Ford script hard to find?

If I had a GPW tailgate and a cj2a I would mount the tailgate on the wall and call it art, and buy a cj3a/b/5 tailgate that was either blank, said JEEP or better yet WILLYS. But to answer your question the W in GPW means that it was built to WILLYS' specs and it will fit

Hmm... you've got a point there. I was going to build my own tailgate and use an old Ford pickup tailgate for the sheetmetal with the script. I thought the GPW tailgate would be less work. There will only be about 300 or so pounds of Jeep on the whole thing so the Willys on the hood is more than enough. :p

I have a 71 cj5 tail gate if your interested...I also have the hinges,just cut a hole and bolt it on,the top clamps will hold onto anything.

Oh here is a pic I have on my computer, mine is kinda like this but it has no tire carrier and has quick clamps instead of hooks.
I can take real pics if you want.

thats not a tire carrier...it's a license plate mount and shiney light...:flipoff2:

:cool: Ba ha ha ha .....wasn't looking close enough....now that I think about it that would be a useless tire carrier not to mention cumbersome when you need you open the gate...
