Okay...I get lit up all the damn time now but never get a ticket.

Here's the deal.....I've got 38's all the way out of the wheel wells...I have a windshield that would splint and fall out if you pushed on it w/ your pinky...my jeep is FAST....I drive it sideways half the damn time. I do donuts. I brake hard...I launch fast. I'm not registered....I might have insurrance?

When I get pulled over they yell at me and talk all kinds of sh!T about my ride....then I am waiting for the ticket and nothing. What the hell do they get out of yelling at me is what I want to know...they tell me all the consequeces like I could be towed and all this sh!T....(oh yea...they never see me do any of the bad driving..I'm always cruising slow when they see me...so it's not an endangering lives thing)

I can't figure it out....But I'd rather get a ticket then a sh!T poor talking to any day....I think I am just going to go nuts now and make their lives HELL! 60 front 14 bolt rear...120 degree approach and departure angles....44's all full width all madness. Remove the windshield and use a motor cycle helmet.

When I get my first mud flap ticket I am going to just go crazy and build huge rockbound fenders :D then make it all legal! :flipoff2:

Beware of CHP on 99 or 32 though. they are the ones that will give you the ticket for the wheels stickin out and no flaps.

I am a law enforcement officer for the state of north carolina. Sometimes if the people seem decent I will tell them the consequences of there actions rather than giving them a ticket, sometimes it does more good for both. I do stop most all 4x4 but only to talk to the owners, see where they are going wheeling basically just to talk .Everyone knows me in the 4x4 world around here i cool with about anything as long as they arnt into drugs or something and we are all very good buddies. I help them out from time to time when some other pecker head gives them a ticket for something, Hey we are all people and they wont wear a badge forever plus everyone needs good buddies.so 4x4 drink:beer: and be happy. If your ever in NC around tellico look me up!

Phil, this is like those cops who beat the living F#$K out of people after a long highspeed chase. "Contempt of Cop"

They see you and instantly think..."Why that scrawny MutherF#$ker!!" :flipoff2:

The simple fact that you have such absolute disregard for thier Authoritahhhh, pisses them off, so they pull you over and unload!!! Never really wanting to impound your Junk, just barely keeping themselves from beating you like Rodney! By the time their done, they've said so much derogatory shite, that if you were to push it, they could get busted for verbal assault.

Or......

its easy when they first walk up to the vehicle
ask them whats your problem oficer.

I figure that 98% of the time I am going to get
a ticket any way so who cares.

if they start giveing you a bunch of shit dial
911 on cell phone they automaticaly record
your conversation so be polite and let them
talk tell the operator you are being harased
the cop will shut up as soon as he realizes
that his conversation is being recorded.

heck I'll take being yelled at anyday, that dosn't cost anything, you can't run without a windshield there? up here the book says you can't have a broken windshield and the wipers must work, dosn't actually say you have to have a windshield installed.

haha...yea I saw that contempt of cop thing! :D That makes a lot of sense but I don't understand why they freak out over mud flaps....you can't notice the other stuff until you start hiking around the rig but they are yelling at me like I murdered someone!

It's CHP (I can understand) and sheriffs (of all people) that do the yelling. I get a thumbs up 3 out of 4 times from the chico PD. Hell I'm a halfway millitary support vehicle. I could go to battle fawk some sh!t up then cruise home.

You know as well as I do that widely spaced lugs don't toss pebbles (they toss boulders..and boulders don;t fly high unless the throttle is awn) Hell the initial crack on the windshield came from a faggot ricer honda. :flipoff2: ricers!

I just can't get over the way they sounds as they walk up....it's like they won't sleep if they know I'm on the road.

My favorite excuses that have gotten me off plenty of times are:

-Well officer...it is under the GVWR and does not require the tires to be in the wheel wells much like a T-bucket...however it is a fair weather vehicle so if it was raining now I would not be driving it :D

-I don't see why you would ticket me "the victim" when some damn thieves and vandals broke my windshield and ripped off my drivers side rear view. Why don't you catch the theives instead of me.

They don't like either of those but they are generally not interested in arguing w/ a professional...who happens to be a kid :D How bad would that suck to be proven wrong by a 21 year old :D (won't happen cause I am always bluffing:D)

Hey techguru......you are the reason why I leave my jeep alone. I know some really cool cops from back home (I'm at school in chico) that pulled me over just to bs which scares me but I still respect them and they always help me out when I have an issue. I need to get out to tellico soon..I have a few friends in TN from when I used to live there. I am thinking about moving away from CA when I graduate or at least to a part of CA w/ less rules. ;) So I'll be traveling.....damn Mexico woul dbe perfect if it didn't suck so bad as far as gas and parts goes. :(

The only lift law there is in NC is that it cant be lifted more than 6 inches above factory height, but there is an exception to that in that if it is a vehicle designed to carry more than one person and ocassionally used offroad there is no law. You cant run studs in the tires except when there is ice on the road HA HA HA. You cant be over 102" wide that is for tractor trailers but would apply to all, but you can get a permit 10.00 a year. Its wide open you can have fun here:D

Thats gay!!:rainbow: Theyre arent really any laws like that in AZ:D I see some trucks that are so tall that the floor pan is about shoulder level, driving around. As far as i know the only law is that trucks have to have mudflaps if theyre lifted. But I havent been ticketed or pulled over yet for not having them.

PA sucks for lift laws and whatnot. You can't have you tires out past the flares, can't be up too high, supposed to have mudflaps. The mudflap law is so silly that if taken to it's fullest, a stock XJ would be in violation. Not to mention you MUST have insurance, MUST pay registration every year and MUST be inspected every year.

...all so you can get in an accident that wasn't your fault with some jackass who doesn't know how to drive, whose vehicle hasn't been registered or inspected in two years and your insurance says there nothing they can do for you, or call your vehicel totalled and give you half of what it's worth.

Hmm.. my junk is street legal in Montana..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/racing/6_24_2001/devil_after_obst1.jpg

Well, I'm missing the driver's side mirror in that pic.

Rearview mirror, brake lights, insurance, registration, wipers (wiper arms just bolted to the cowl.. don't hafta work, just hafta be there)..

I just wear goggles when I'm on the street, and use hand signals. :flipoff2:

I even drove it to motor vehicles and renewed my license one day.. undid the 5pts, climbed out of the cage, and straightened my shirt, tie n' slacks before walking inside.. :D
Kinda nice living here.. though you only get to drive a vehicle like this a few months a year.. Y'know, the week of summer and the two weeks of Spring n' Fall..

Kinda sounds like the only time I can take off the top in my Scout and not get 3rd degree burns:cool2: . Except its the two weeks of fall and the two weeks of spring, after that comes the 6 months of triple digits, then the winter for all of a few months:D

Glad theres no laws that strict here. More than half my tires stick out past my fenders, I have no flares or mudflaps. If I had to go to inspectoin there would fail me in a second. Plus I dotn think that heims are street legal, but I dont know for sure.

Why is it that people know what the laws are pertaining vehicle regulations, refuse to obey them, then bitch when they get pulled over? Granted, most are very stupid but still they are laws.
If you really would rather have a ticket instead, just ask for one. Hey just say, " If you're going to give me a lecture, please don't, I'd rather just pay the fine." I'm sure the cop thinks he's cutting you a break, atleast that's what I think when I don't write someone. Good luck with the ticket!!

I wasn't bitching, just stating what happened and I honestly never knew there was a lift law. I find it intersting that I have been driving around a wrangler for 4 years with 8-9 inches of lift have have over 20 friends with lifted vehicles that have never been hassled and have three friends that are cops and never told me anything about lift laws and two of them have jeeps lifted as high as mine!

but I get pulled over in a slightly lifted cherokee that will never see the woods.

I deffinatly think it is a break when a cop doesn't write me a ticket, I thank him very poitely.

Gotta love Texas.

No flaps

no lift restrictions

no flares

no windshield (need wipers)

Pretty open here. We do have vehicle inspections, just need to find a friendly shop, pull in with $20 hanging out of glovebox. Only Dallas-Ft Worth and Houston have smog

they are trying to pass a law here where they can impound and or deregister vehicles on the spot

insurance/registration must be payed yearly, they can make you go to a department inspection station at any time they choose
lifts more than 1/3 of height in bumpstop rebound mode are banned
any welding on the chassis is banned

any changes from factory require engineers approval and blue plating

no heim joints
no 1/4 elliptics
no 4 links
no spring overs
no body lifts above 2 inches
no tyres are to be sticking out
tyres rolling diameter is not allowed to be increased by more than 19mm (3/4 of an inch) so im practically allowed 32s on my cruiser:rolleyes:

everything is a mission to get approved

It's all about money and power...bastards...no guns and next no real wheelers...that's BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are they so anal in Oz with the vehicular laws???? It's practically an uninhabited place compared to most other countries (no offense intended) it seems one of the ultimate four-wheeling places to live.
