what is the law in your state?
I know that you can bend conduit and use that as long as it stretches the full length of the truck... or goto home depot and buy steel pipe and 90 degree bends...

p.s. I have seen it where people will put it on hydraulics.... flick a switch and it lowers down for street with license plate on it.... flick the switch again... and tucks behind their bumper outta harms way..... you could do that and use the black steel pipe so it isnt as noticeable... p.s. you got pics?

some day im gonna get rockwells (2 turning axles) and 53's under my truck legally in NJ... when they only allow 38's now.....

you could make a stupid bumper that slides into your hitch reciever
then when you dont need it judt pull it out and leave it at home

new cars use bumpers made of styrofoam, try a 4x8 sheet tied to the front.
maybe that will make the LEO stfu.

you need to find out the exact law concerning the bumper height. here in missouri it states that the bumper must be as thick or thicker than stock and bolt in the factory location and be a one piece design.

that would mean that you could build a bumper with a drop

here they measure from the bottom of the middle of the bumper on level ground.

i have seen people build a bumper for the street and a bumper for wheeling, and then i have seen some pretty outrageous bumpers that only drop in the center and are super high on the outsides.

read your law carefully and you will see the loop holes in it. do exactly as it says, keep a copy of it with you and you wont have any more problems.

As stated find out your exact laws in your state. VA. has some crazy law that states if your bumper is dropped from its stock location then they will measure to the frame. So no matter how far you drop your bumper the frame will be measured.

Looks like you are in Knoxville, TN. The bumper height requirments for that state are:

The distance between the bumper and the ground is 24 inches for GVWRs of 4,500 and less; 26 inches for 4,501 tto 7,500; and 28 inches for 7,501 to 10,000.

I'm having the same problem with the bumper laws.. I'm going to build my own drop bumper and have it just low enough in the middle to come close to the legal height..

I guess  Anyhow, since I'm guessing dropping down to stock suspension & doing a major sawzall hack isn't what you're looking for, you're stuck with the ugly bumper - just make the drop-down removable for when you wheel (giving WAY more credit than I should here ;)).

I'm from the knoxville area and was with a buddy in a jeep that got pulled one day by county for his tags bein expired and he made us get out and watch him measure his bumper hieght.... He said we were sittin at 32 1/4" and said the law was 32"??? Anyways he said he'd be kind and let us slip with the extra 1/4".

Next they will hit you with your frame hight being to high. Maybe after that your headlight hight. Maybe exhaust being to loud. My experiance is that is has more to do with the cop not wanting you around than anything else.
