so what i want to know is what side gears, locker, or what ever are you going to use that is 35 spline in a 14bolt? unless you have something i've never heard of it aint gonna happen. anyway yes the 14bolts are 30spline but they are 1.5" in diameter and they are beefy as hell. don't worry about it. when you break a stock 30spline 14bolt  it's time for rockwells.

How do you plan to fit the 35 spline shafts into the 30 spline (1 -9/16" diameter BTW) carrier

The 14 bolt is a BIG ASSED 30 spline diff......... I doubt you will break stock shafts.

well its a highbrid rear axle its a tera 60 center with 14 bolt flanges i am going with an arb thats why i wanted to know about the 35 spline so maybe i shouldnt even waste money you guys are saying that i will never break them:D

If its a tera center I think you will need to go with a 32-35 spline shaft to match what ever locker you have.

I think the spline design / angle is slightly different on a 14 bolt compared to everything else.

Maybe, maybe not. Just what I heard.

Yeah, the 14b uses a "non-standard" pressure angle spline, at least in comparison to Dana. You need 60 axles, not 14-bolt, at the spline end, and a 14-bolt flange pattern, AND probably a custom length, too. Hell, you might as well go to 35 spline since nothing else about the things will be stock.

I am planning on building a similar axle. 60 center with 14 bolt spindles and shafts. Here is what I was planning on doing. Use an open 60 carrier and weld 14 bolt side gears in it. I think the outside dia. of the 14 bolt side gear is smaller so I will have spacers machined to center the gears in the carrier. Then I will weld the gears in place. It depends on how much money you want to spend, this would be a lot cheaper than custom shafts.

Oh yeah you want an ARB so forget mt idea.

both of the axles (60 and 14 bolt) use the same bolt pattern on the flange...this is common around here...cut off the small spindles on the 60 and put on 14bolt outers..then install 35spline axles...

Go with dutchman or moser or any other axle builder...you would think that you would know this already:rolleyes:

Or you could just go get D70 shafts. They are 35 spline alreaady. Sounds like a lot of work for what a 70 shaft has and you will just need the side gears out of a 35 spline 60.

70 spindles work just he same as the 14 bolt's do also.

The only reason I was going to do it that way was because I have all of those parts laying around.;)

why wouldn't u just use the whole 14-bolt?, i mean u get 3 pinion bearings, huge carrier bearings, you might get 1 inch more clearance outta the tera 60 (expensive shiat) than if u grind the hell outta the 14-bolt, and u can pick up parts for a stock 14-bolt at almost every single parts store around, just my opinion, which may not mean much, but there it is

guys ,guys ,guys, relax here a minute
i am going with the tera for the high pinion as my lift is high and my t-case is way up in the body(steep angle on driveshaft) now all i asked was ...which company has a better shaft?
i have 14 bolt stuff im welding on the tubes so the length will be different then stock so that is why i might as well buy 35 spline.
now the splines on a 14 bolt are diferent then a 60? i did not know that so can i just tell who ever is making the shafts for me that i need d60 ff splines with the 14 bolt flange. someone said the flanges are the same so all i need is 60 ff shafts and they will bolt up to the 14 bolt flanges?
you guys got me confused ...
also the center section is pretty cheap :D
600$ with tubes 3"DOM

i vote to just go 14bolt
the terra 60 isn't worth it
and soon eaton or arb will have a selectable locker for the 14
till then just lincoln lock it

THE TERA 60 WITH TUBES BRAND NEW ISNT WORTH 600$ WHAT ARE YOU :smokin:
I NEED THE HIGH PINION.

O.K., I know the 14 bolt is tougher, I have one in my truck too. I wanted to build a hybrid axle with the parts I already had and use two short side shafts. That way I would have a super tough narrowed axle.

Lets just drop it because it no longer has anything to do with tj7's post.

Superior claims "double heat-treated" and that "rolled splines are 35% stronger than cut splines." Hype? I don't know. I've not tried any of them yet, but I will probably go with the Superior.

hmmmmmmmm:confused:
see what im saying i guess ill see who ever gives me the best deal
so do you i have to tell them about the different style of splines ?do i need 60 style of splines instead of the 14 bolt if my center section is d60?

Yes, you need shafts for a 60. IIRC the hub patterns the same. You can also use 60 hubs on the 14b spindle

you lost me..
i have 14 bolt stuff welded on a 60 center i need?35 splined 60 full floates and the will bolt up to the 14 bolf stuff right?
