Legends: $75.00 per vehicle

Super-Modified: $100 per vehicle

Note: These entry fees are based on a one day only bases. The competition is only being held on Saturday, Aug. 27th, 2005. If competitors want to also participate in the trail run the following day, they must wait to register for that event on Sunday.

Each team in each class will compete on 8-10 courses. Courses are designed to be challenging for the vehicle in that particlar class. Stock vehicles will not be running the same lines as the super-modified class, or even the modified stock class courses for that matter. The courses will be designed to challenge vehicles, drivers, and spotters. We do not build the courses to break vehicles, we build them to test the teams to find the ultimate drivers and spotters.

Rockcrawling rules and vehicle specs can be found in the rulebook forum. Rockcrawling, unlike woods racing, is a sport where points count rather than time, but there is still a max time in which the team must complete the course.

What's the spectator situation like down there? How much of the course can you see from one spot?

BTW, be sure to post this over at mmor.com as not many of those folks make it here or to jeepthing.com

There is primatitve camping available onsite. Camping will be available by the 101 course or by the lake. There is semi access to just above the event site...in other words normal parking area.

There are several Hotels in the area. Also you can use yahoo maps. This is the designation address:

There are also several motels located in the area. The closest ones are Potosi Super 8 and YMCA.

The cheapest of them is the super 8...well besides camping

As far as supermodified rigs, I don't know. I have heard from several potential competitors that they will be there, or that they were thinking about it, but until I see the pre-registration form in my hand, that is all heresay. There will be no garantees made because preregistration is not required for this event. It will be next year.

From Troy, you will take HWY 47 south to HWY 21. Turn right.
Go 10+ miles
Turn right onto HWY 8 2 miles
Turn right on HWY 185 1 mile
Turn left on HWY AA 7 miles
turn right into Sayersbrook Bison Ranch and the road will take you into the event site. All roads are paved until you reach the parking area. Parking area is car friendly.

Very spectator friendly event. Parking is above the comp area, short walking distance, great spectator walking trails. As a spectator, you could watch up to 6 courses being run simotaniously.

If I'm heading South on 185 from I-44 (Sullivan), is that AA turnoff before I get to Potosi or after?

TEX

If your coming from sullivan down 185, HWY AA is 1.5 miles before Potosi on the right. If you hit hwy 8, youve gone 1.5 miles too far.

where would someone have found this information?

butch6924
08-25-2005, 01:52 PM
The best source for that kind of information is in the rules section of http://moroc.com/ 's forums. Other than that, you could always post there for one of the members to reply or you could email RoknTJ directly. If none of that pans out for you, PM me, I go by Butch on those boards, and I'll be happy to give you the presidents phone number if I can't answer the question myself.

I have seen both 35" and 37" limits for mod stock, I assumed it was 37'. Anyone know for sure?

butch6924

In this particular format, Mod-Stock would be 35's & smaller.

Should spectators bring folding chairs? What about coolers, allowed or not? Planning to do something with my daughter tomorrow, so we'll see if I can talk her into doing this :)

Folding chairs are a great idea. Cooler are allowed but concessions will be available.

Your daughter should have a good time. I'm not sure how well you know the Ranch or the group hosting the event but these are very family friendly events. We get loud but we have a lot of fun doing it.

Never been to The Ranch, have met some of the Midwest & MidRivers Jeepthing folks over the years. That's about as close of a connection as I'd have. If you see a guy out there hanging mud bog fliers on windshields with his 4-year-old daughter, that means I made it down :D

Well if you see these guys http://caror.bravehost.com/ around, you've found us.

The ranch is a really cool place. Since they're all private trails they have their advantages and dis advantages. Good thing is they don't get all rutted out and torn up, bad thing is the require a lot more maintenance to keep them accesssible because they don't get the constant traffic that public parks get. In all, it's one of my favorite places to wheel.

Well, we saw a bit of it. My alternator belt broke in Sullivan, so I had to turn around & go back for another car. My daughter came along on the 2nd attempt. Got to the comp about 12:45 (estimated) & watched about an hour or so. My daughter thought we needed to be in a Jeep driving over the bumps - it reminded her of the rides at the fair  She got tired of it relatively quick, so we headed down to the lake pavillion for a picnic :)

It was a nice day. There were some "bumps" for all of us, but, we had a good time and I hope your daughter did too.
