i have a 93 truck with a blowen 6.5 should i rebuilt it or built a 454 i have and put in it

rebuild it, diesels are cool, and you can do cool stuff with it

i was looking at rebuilt ones there like 7 grand

Whats broken? If any of the major parts need replacing( heads, crank, block, etc) it's going to be major $$. If it just needs rebuilt you can probably do it yourself for a few grand. Converting it to a gasser won't be cheap either unless you find a doner with all the parts you need.

If its a DD, I'd do anything I could to keep the diesel because of gas prices. For occasional use, I'd go with whatevers cheaper. If you have all the parts for the 454, it'll be cheaper, but if you have just have a block and heads you might want to make a list of everything youd need for the BBC and price it out. I cant believe how much $$$ ended up in my BBC.

Go with the 454 and sell me the turbo stuff. :D With the fuel prices what they are right now I would keep the diesel..I don't know what kinda mileage you get, but my 6.2 Blazer gets 20 city or highway and that's a heck of a lot better than that 454 will get.

Look for a good used engine.

You have `93 non computorized truck you can add just about any engine , but if you have the `93 electronic then I would go with a direct replacement for that.
the electronic will need the pump timing recalibrated after you set it up or it will throw codes(88,etc) dealer can do it, or if you have the tech 1 or equivilent you can.

What did you blow on it? They are prone to cracked heads, and the turbos melting down. You're going to be cheaper off rebuilding it, than fawking with all the computer shit to put the 454 in there. Especially with the 4L80E tranny.

Fix the fawkin' thing. It may sound like fun to put a big block in it, but you won't be that impressed by the results, and will be out of a lot of money. I say rebuild it, and maybe add some trick parts along the way.

the gut i am buying it from says he was driveing along and it started makeing a nosie so he park it had a frined that works on diesel cut the filter open and it had metal fakes in it but thats all he knows it still ran but make nosiei have not heard it yet
